Like other brands they are playing the marketing game if x years of support, not x android updates
Thats why they introduced pixel 9s earlier and are moving the Android launch
Next year they do it again and suddenly you have 4 months between the two and it doesn't look so bad to the customer but "saves money" for the company. Plus the question if Tensor can keep up with android 20+ at all

The latest "argument" tested by these trillion dollar corporations is, they're trying to gaslight legislators into thinking proprietary software based on open source should be exempt. For reasons being money.

I have another phone (Xiaomi), running Android 8 (Android Go).
Legends are still using Android Nougat (7.0)

I am using android 12 still now and it works well, although not sure for how long.

The P8 launched with A14 and will be supported until A21.
P9 launched with A14 but should have a support through A22 ... We'll see if they don't rebrand that in a few years to loose the long term support 😬

The beta for the 9 series is available and STABLE. I ran it on my 7 pro without any issues.
I waited until this past Sunday to put it on my 9 Pro XL, just to make sure the phone was stable and after getting it setup etc.
NO issues.
Why the delay? Well, Android releases usually come in October, but this year, they released the phone early, to beat Apple to a new release (which I don't think will have any impact on Apple sales anyway) Since 15 isn't a "release" version, makes sense they would just release it with 14....or the haters would find something else to trash it.

Happy that they are taking more time to make sure these phones are as bug free as possible. If pixels can make their phones as bug free as possible everyone will be much happier
