Zaini, 31 Aug 2024Android is more complex, written in java, c++, kotlin, and ... moreAndroid's Bytecode is rather easier to program, compared to the RTOS structure of Symbian.
If you look from the programmer perspective, it's easily understandable why it's less developer friendly. This is essentially the same reason why there aren't apps made to work with Mocor RTOS devices as well.
In this case, I'm considering sis apps, not those based on Javascript.

For some, as conspiracy, but in other hand, Elop face dillema conditions, back him or sack him. Please use actual opinions, if no something new with android os, google will only stuck on their development, no update every year. Maybe you face some problem with entry device hardware, not due to creepy or laggy os inside.

Zaini, 31 Aug 2024Android is more complex, written in java, c++, kotlin, and ... moreI do not find android to be more complex then symbian, i find the argue tough pointless at this stage, each with his own... MeeGo was planned to replace Symbian in High-end segment, the idea was to put symbian on a second place for low end smartphones and maybe mid-ragers, and to invest more time in MeeGo. Also MeeGo was meant to support symbian .sis apps and other forms, even .apk's if i am not mistaking. The killed the platform before N 9 was even released, that is why no support. Because the Trojan Horse by the name of Eflop, wanted to sell Nokia mobile devision and make it gone, so that crapple can get a higher place on the stage, also he got 25 Billion € from destruction of nokia mobile devision, he was quite persistent to get his hands on those money too. If that ahole wouldn't be, maybe today their would still be 4 Mobile operating systems to choose from, and not only this boring garbage of today. All troll everywhere about euroe per kg Hardware, but no one has expectations on OS or functionality, i mean what is the purpose of buying a new android this days? They all more or less the same, some uglier, some crappier some full of spyware. But the OS is the same. None has something new on the table, bigger bending screens does not change this fact, and the latest SoC definetly not, but only for some spec zombies.

Nokia forced their old input-based symbian to touch-based, no wonder many developers gave up and meego is not fully supported by nokia lacking in ecosystem and community.

Zaini, 30 Aug 2024Why did Symbian caught up over Android because it couldn... moreNo java phone was ever close to Symbian in any function or usage. You very certently never used Symbian smartphones. And nope, Symbian Touch interface was not a big problem, they catched up with nokia n8 pretty well. The problem was the coding. Symbian being coded in c++ also apps being coded in the same way, is WAY more complicated to deliever then Android ever was, and devs very fast gave up on it and turned to a way more easy to code platforms. One could call it lazyness, but who does not want a quick buck?
That is why nokia released MeeGo, another System that was miles ahead of android, but well, after Eflop the trojan horse destroyed this platforms in favor of windows phone, it all went downhill. Big mistake from Nokia Board of directores to trust him and Microsoft, but that's another story.

First symbian touchscreen still resistive so multitasking not efficient. Android retain the background app with cached system. IR blaster not something new even Android can do better like smart home control and ev complements. Those apps build for symbian ecosystems although with less ram but with small resource too, differ from today's apps. Android app have more complex process like user permission, background data, complex ui, animation, transition, app update, etc. Some java touch-based phone such as samsung jet or lg arena have almost symbian can does.

Zaini, 29 Aug 2024Nokia naming confusing, s30, s40 for their feature, s60, an... moreYeah, might be confusing. But for those who used symbian smartphones, the difference was quite clear, nothing confusing about that. Feature phones were feature phones, smartphones were smartphones. Symbian beeing quite potent and holding features that smartphones this days still can't do, like true multitasking: miles ahead of the bs multitasking android and ios have to offer. You could trully keep apps opened in the background without them beeing put to sleep, as long an app was opened, it was truly opened, you could also kill the processes of apps and so on, pretty much like in windows for pc's. You could use them as an universall remote control or natively change the OS skin without the need of installing another interface to mask the original. And the system was very well optimised and mature. With 256mb RAM i had 30 apps opened, even with games like asphalt, angry birds or temple run, and other apps and it will still run without issues, the ressource management in symbian was miles ahead of what android and ios have to offer. With 8 GB RAM symbian would probably run all apps the store has to offer... not that anyone would need it, but just for the giggles.
