If Qualcomm can target these price point with the 8 cores SDX Plus (well... it will be pricier still), and if the ecosystem of Windows on ARM is matured enough, surely people willing to shell out a little more for this instead of Pentium thing, right?

Remember that desktop GPUs crossed the 1 Teraflop mark 16 years ago. That's pretty low end even for an integrated GPU.

This is purely going to be a 2D/productivity use, or maybe retro gaming.

The GPU was already dog crap, this is going to severely underperform in front of upcoming Intel CU200K series.
Even if intel gets around 8hrs of battery backup, people will forget Qualcomm's existence.

Give me this 8 core cpu with a 70+whr battery and I will buy without hesitation. Manufacturers have a nasty habit of reducing the battery capacity when the CPU performance is reduced.

                Qualcomm is terrible with naming.

So why not call it just "Snapdragon X" with those specs? X plus is better so it can't be named same

Make a 6 core for $500 notebooks and hopefully quite a few will sell.

If the power efficiency will be better than a Mac, then it's a worthy purchase.

rizki1, 30 Aug 2024There is nothing interesting if Samsung and Asus will still... moreYeah. Xiaomi and Infinix should really think about this. For now, maybe the market is not formed well yet. But if Microsoft commit to the Windows on ARM, it should not be that long that this kind of devices will have a wider chunk in the market. And having cheap alternatives from the like of Xiaomi or Infinix could help the spreading speed.

Imagine a Xiaomi devices like Redmi Pad along with the keyboard cover and stylus using SDX Plus 8 cores, Poco Pad using SDX Plus 10 cores, and Xiaomi Pad using SDX Elite. And complete the line up with the laptop form factor too. That would be awesome.

Anonymous, 30 Aug 20248 core is going to be pretty slow no? I'd be happy to ... moreDepends on your perception of slowness. If it compared to Elite and 10 cores Plus, then yes, it will be slow. But if you look at the mobile office market, which targeted by Celeron & Pentium, then it should be faster.

Although it is not equal, we can think of this as the Core-i3 or Ryzen 3 of the Snapdragon X. Fast enough for office usages, able to run medium processing requirement, but won't be the chip to go if you do it regularly.

There is nothing interesting if Samsung and Asus will still make laptops with this chip because the price will definitely be expensive... we need more brands like Poco, Infinix, Redmi to make laptops because the price can be 2 times cheaper.

I can see this being the direct successor to the 7c+ Gen 3. Some people prioritize battery life over performance.

Anonymous, 30 Aug 20248 core is going to be pretty slow no? I'd be happy to ... moreSlower than 12 and 10 core, but still fast enough to outperform the devices in the same price range.

What could be the starting price of notebooks powered by these CPUs in india? Asus vivobook with X elite is too expensive priced at 1,25,000 INR/ 1400 $ (USD)

8 core is going to be pretty slow no? I'd be happy to look at the 10 core X plus but 50% less cores than the X elite must make it pretty slow.
