Early iPhones cost about $600 (apart from the 2G which was, at launch, $499 WITH a contract, so realistically like $1200 without counting in inflation). However, the point I wanted to make is that the 3GS is 15 years old and pretty much worthless now, and that even that one had an advantage there, which means that the series up until now was missing a very basic essential feature. Even though few talked about it. And how do I know? Well I‘m a phone nerd, and watched many keynotes and know many parts of spec sheets by heart. Also, I looked it up on this site to see which one got it, I first assumed it was the 3G. I only remembered that it was introduced very early. Just like I think the iPhone 6 got a barometer, but the SE 1 didn’t have it. And the 12 Pro got LiDAR.
