loving the design choices: unique camera doesn't create a notch, bump, or bevel; good processor choice--- Ultra H has a solid iGPU plus efficient/cool base CPU or performant upgraded CPU; speakers are not an afterthought; good and bright color gamut--- although I wish Linux would accept 144 to 160 dpi as its new standard. fractional scaling is a dead end; lightweight but looks well-built; bold body color; fingerprint tricks; touchpad tricks; laptop gets hottest in the place you wouldn't keep your hands/wrists while typing
Ideal would be USB-C on both sides but keeping those ports together is probably much easier for Honor's engineers.
Also ideal: transparent & fair pricing without weird loyalty program games and flash sales and hidden coupon codes. But that's another universe that we don't live on.

> Avid gamers will scoff at the smaller Up and Down arrow keys, but that's the only [keyboard] complaint that we could think of.
Allow me to enlighten you: No PgUp/PgDn/Home/End/Ins without Fn. Space off-center with touchpad, probably annoying to people always using left hand on the touchpad but maybe nice for right-mousers. Both Alt keys are tiny. Left Ctrl is also rather small, so palming Ctrl might not work well. No Right Ctrl aka "Nobody wanted Copilot." No separation or distinction between Esc/Del and other Fn keys. (On Thinkpads and older XPS, these were always wider.) Titanium is gonna hurt your wrists after a while. Fn symbols are all on the upper left of the key, so then what do you press to get whatever that is on the bottom right of the Copilot key? No word on how many keys can be pressed simultaneously for gaming.
Power. Will Linux play nice with the combo power/fingerprint button? Including accidental presses? Does the power button depress or is it a solid, non-moving key? What is the right force for holding it ten seconds if there's no tactile feedback? Would resting any skin lightly on this button for ten seconds shut everything down without warning?
Top row. Who chose size 6 font for the backtick, period, colon, and backspace symbol? Why is the function key text smaller than the adjacent keys'? Are media keys the default? If so, why aren't they the main symbol? Can it be changed in BIOS?
For writing office memos, it's probably a stellar keyboard and deep enough that the sharp edge of the laptop doesn't dig into your wrists (like the ThinkPad Z13, ow!!). For Vi users and any programs heavily mixing regular keys (numbers & letters) with non-alphanumeric keys (particularly Alt, Esc, and all of the navigation keys) this keyboard could be less-than-perfect.

Very nice, actually. There are some problems, though. The webcam's lack of an IR sensor and no HDR is disappointing, as is the fact that it's only 1080p when a magnetic attachment should free it from USB 2.0 constraints. For whatever its successor may be, that one needs to have 2160p@60fps with HDR support. If phones can do it, then so can a laptop.
The other problem with this is the battery life. There are two ways they can improve it, and I'd recommend doing both. They could use an AMD Ryzen CPU, or they could use higher capacity silicon-carbon batteries. Even if Arrow Lake beats AMD in efficiency when it releases (which seeing as Lunar Lake is rumoured to be doing, making it potentially possible for Arrow Lake), my point about silicon-carbon batteries still stands. Honor was the first brand to use this technology, so I want to see them also be the first to use it on a laptop. A 60Wh battery just doesn't seem big enough for a laptop of this size, especially when Framework does it on a laptop smaller than it (and technically it's ever so slightly bigger at 61Wh as well!). If they used a battery that was physically bigger/thicker *AND* made it silicon-carbon, that would be even better.
Otherwise, excellent laptop, I would've loved to have one had it had an AMD CPU. I'm extremely picky with laptops, so the fact that this one was almost perfect for my requirements tells me just how good it is. That OLED screen is absolutely gorgeous, and gets really bright for a laptop (even if it is overwhelming compared to a phone — I hope laptop manufacturers address that at some point).

JS, 09 Sep 20243:2 is the best for office charts and internet pages. Thanks for the reply. So this laptop is not for me then. I can do office on something 100 times cheaper. What a shame and what a waste with that 3:2 screen ratio.

This is hardly impressive with Zen 5 and Lunar lake out now...
"During the test, the fans were going full blast but produced no more than 55dB - barely audible in a relatively quiet office environment. This is an impressively quiet machine."
Seriously? This is gaming laptop level of noise, but without the performance.
