AnonD-156635, 23 Jul 2013with 1/2.3 sensor , forget it. megapixels won't compensate ... moreAs long it's better than the S4, who cares? Nokia might have the edge compared to Samsung and Sony, but Nokia is still struggling horrendously.

I do agree that the bezels at the bottom is huge, I'm beginning to wonder if it has extra purpose...

Honami is a great smartphone with a great camera not a cameraphone with not so great smartphone (1020).

Sony could do better with the camera's sensor size. I hate on screen keys, Sony's timescape UI was good but those different coloured circle shaped icons are worse. Why Sony can't put a big sensor size and pro-like camera settings as well as a powerful Xenon and led flash? I am disappointed. No need for IP57 certified, just make the battery removable. :(

Anonymous, 23 Jul 20131/2.3" sensors with the right lenses and algorithms de... moreemm, i see. If they make a phone with perfect camera, then the people trust to their smartphone when capture images' and god bye compact camera.
But, i mean' why Sony do not use ccd sensor like iphone's camera. I have compared Xperia Z and iphone 5, the Z results are too over saturation , although iphone 5 sensor is smaller than 13mp, its images or videos more natural and low noise,
I never priority the display size must bigger ,but prefer the colour quality like galaxy s3 or s4.
Hahaha' i wish the phone's maker can make a phone that do not require operator or " free ".

We have to remember that if this device is the "cameraphone" from Sony, it's not really a cameraphone like the Lumia 1020, but rather a top of the line device (the follow up to the Z), but with better imaging.

And if seen a as simply a flagship device, it will probably be a quite good one, with slightly better imaging than found on most others.
If seen as a camera phone, lack of OIS, the relatively small sensor compared to some Nokia devices, and probably lack of Xeon wont make it a hot contender.
But as an all in one flagship device, it's not bad. Although without the edge of beeing "the first 1080p" like last year, and the CPU will probably end up in some other devices quite soon as well, maybe even before the release of this device.

And if it turns out more and more manufactors will turn to 0.5 upgrades of their flagship devices (S4 with improved CPU, Note II with improved CPU, Lumia 928/925 with improved screens). If Sony just gets the display right this time, they could themselves offer a CPU upgraded version in april/may when Smasung and HTC will release their flagship devices and that way stay relevant.

And if the other reumours are true, those talking of a very compact add on camera for your phone is true, that could change the game considerably. (a compact camera smaller than a zoom lens for a micro 4/3 system, that can be attached to the mobile using its display as viewfinder and storage as storage, and CPU for most of the processing). That could change the direction of Nikons and Canons compact/point and shooter segment to small add ons for mobiles. Sure, it wont kill of all the mobile imaging industry as that will still be an important factor, although small those add ons will not be for everyone and certainly not for everyone on all occasions, you still need a capable camera when that "Lens" is left at home. But it will bring a new quality standard and zooming in a way before only seen in point and shooters/compact digitals, but at a much much smaller size (kicking out all the things from such a device that you already have in a mobile, screen, processing)

sony and nokia seems to be only camera phone producer..
                          not anything else.

                          but:

nokia`s camera sooooo better than sony.

                            sony again continue its faults..
only mp for what when 8 mp in lumia 920 or 4 ultra pixel in htc one is good enough for every taste..
the story will be repeating again when htc and samsung go up with new models in next half year.

Anonymous, 23 Jul 20131/2.3" sensor? It's too " not wow ". Sony's ... more1/2.3" sensors with the right lenses and algorithms deliver better results than the current 1/3 and it's one of the most used dimension for point&shoot/compact cameras, I agree it's not so "WOW" but for a phone trying to keep dimensions as compact as possible it's very good and why isn't Sony ready to bring their knowledge from camera division to smartphones? because they don't want to kill their camera division:)

top and especially bottom bezels are huge the phone will no doubt be a beast no doubt but why the need for so much bezel, im not a fan of non removable batteries but at least it offers a better size this time 3000mAh, did not really understand why the xperia z was so low, does it have a micro sd slot? i would have like to have seen IP58 on it like the ZR,

LG Goldstar (G2) is also Great Option.
this year will be great battle between Sony Honami vs. Goldstar G2.

to be fair i prefer G2's design
also i like the button and volume rockers on the back makes easier to touch and press using right & left index fingers.
