I wanna give it a try. It looks cool

Ironic how it’s called the MagicBook Art 14 when one of its main features is having built in software that uses content stolen from artists

no idea if I'll ever use these AI tools.

anyhow, I hope some AI tools actually use the NPU inside the SD X Elite. Not that it'd make want to use it - I'm just curious to see the NPU being properly utilized by various apps.

Should have just used Lunar Lake and not worry about ARM compatibility. LNL will likely be just as, if not more efficient than SDX Elite with much better GPU and better NPU. Only thing SDX will have an edge on is multi-core, as LNL wins in single-core.

How much extra to not have integrated AI? I can open Gemini in a tab

Looks good and quite impressive but its confusing for consumers that they launch it without talking about price or availability. If I can't buy it , why are you announcing it now?

justasmile, 06 Sep 2024It's really a perfect laptop, now with the availabilit... moreI can't believe I'm saying this, but I completely agree with this take. I've always thought that ARM laptops were a waste, simply because x86 vs. ARM doesn't really yield improvements in efficiency (only +6%, apparently) while also causing software compatibility issues. Yet, this laptop has nothing I would complain about outside of software compatibility, and seems really solid on all other fronts. That screen is just gorgeous (though I would love it if it was the same technology as on flagship phones — something that evaporative inkjet printing will eventually resolve anyway), the performance is great, the detachable webcam is really clever (let's hope it doesn't have the flaws of other implementations), and the battery life is amazing. It's everything I would look for on a laptop.

That said, I do have a few annoyances, and all of them are personal, so they're not something wrong with the device, just rather to do with my preferences:
•I would much prefer a 13" laptop if it has a touchscreen, and if touchscreen, it has to be a 2-in-1 laptop. Don't care too much about making it really thin, but even a 14.5" screen is too big for me to use as a tablet.
•That bottom bezel not being as thin as the other three bezels really bugs me. Like, I don't want to see your brand logo written below my screen, thank you, and I want as much screen within the given space as possible.

It's really a perfect laptop, now with the availability of Snapdragon X Elite model. The only minor gripe is a lack of magnetic port, but well, that's exclusive to Surfaces for now.

Modeey, 06 Sep 2024Maybe in few years will see an arm laptop with powerful spe... moreYeah, spot on, mate! ARM laptops are really stepping up. Once the software gets sorted, we might see them giving the Intel and AMD lot a proper run for their money

Honor, Samsung, Asus are all above $1000 with this Snapdragon chip.

Honestly, to my view... it looks like a solid upgrade! With the Snapdragon X Elite and all that AI stuff, it’s not just about performance but making life a bit easier. The MagicRing feature sounds spot on for anyone juggling devices. Feels like it could really shake up how we work day-to-day.

Maybe in few years will see an arm laptop with powerful specs and software to go with it

Ngl, I really like the idea of an detachable webcam, good thing Honor did this lol
