Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold in for review

09 September 2024
Google's foldable may very well be your best choice at the moment - especially in North America with its limited choice of options.

Even if we're... moreI'm glad a stock-ish Android foldable exists in the US but I'd still just go for the Open instead, and I prefer PixelUI. There's just too many compromises on the 9 Pro Fold and it's insanely overpriced, plus the way the hinge takes up much more of the left side of the frame compared to the Open looks like it'd be really uncomfortable to hold. Especially with a case on.

Especially rounded screen corners in square frame 😂

This ain't even last year's tech, it's 2 year old tech but with current year thinness. The Open is better in every way except for thinness.

I ordered mine 5mins after launch but not heard a sausage 4 days later when it was supposed to be next day delivery. Cannot get through to them for love nor money. I can only imagine the frustration if I had a warranty issue.

Player 57, 09 Sep 2024Who needs this Google-garbage when the Galaxy Fold exists^ People who hate having a Samsung Account besides their Google account. (Myself included)

Darth Caesium, 09 Sep 2024Best choice? Absolutely ridiculous take. Even if we're... moreforget the Open 2, I'd rather get the Open instead of this garbage. If this were 1400 euros it'd have been a good deal. At the current price, with 256 GB of storage. This is pathetic. And I agree, even the Fold6 is better than this. The Find N3, to me at least, looks like a piece of art, this looks like a mid tier piece of work with its huge protruding hinge thing on the cover screen and the thick bezels like ewwww

It's funny how Americans have to choose between slop and even worse slop lmao

A note on the stylus of the Magic V3, its stylus is supported yes but you have to carry it separately or get a wacky looking cover. The Z Fold6 still has the upper hand in having official stylus covers that don't look too wacky.

So...what about the 9 Pro (non-XL)? Kind of weird that phone hasn't had its extensive review yet...

Who needs this Google-garbage when the Galaxy Fold exists

Best choice? Absolutely ridiculous take. Even if we're just looking at North America, it's a horrible choice when the OnePlus Open 2 is about to get released, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is still objectively better than the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold despite its flaws.

If we look at Europe, besides the OnePlus (which only isn't available in the UK), there's instead the Honor Magic V3, which is extremely thin, very durable for a foldable and has great cameras for a foldable. It even has stylus support, just like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, but unlike that phone, it also has support for it on both screens. Its only real fault is the lackluster brightness from the inner screen and the lackluster battery life.
