    It's seem like A.I language models are going to be increasingly more integrated locally on smartphones

    Not just some app or Siri anymore but deep OS integration and that eats ram like mad

    So the arguement of 8gb ram being "enough" was valid 5 years ago I'm not so sure if that will age well going forward

            Let's act like 8Gb are not enough for nowadays standards. I mean, an S23 Ultra with 8GB runs perfectly great any app, and will keep running everything flawlessly for a few years. Haven't had an iPhone for around 7 years. I know for the price you want the biggest numbers, but nah, it will work perfectly fine

                                      My 6GB Android also never struggled to keep apps open.

                                      Android 10GB = Apple 8GB

                                      And Android 2GB wouldn't run today at all.

                                      The Optimisation only makes a small part of it. It's just that on Samsung, 6GB Ram will already be used by the OS before you opened any Apps. So an Galaxy S23 8GB only has 2GB of useable Ram.


                                      I don't know how much Ram on Apple is useable after OS weight preciselyy but it's certainly a lot less.


                                      How much useable Ram is needed for each app will be quite similar.

                                      You can also see that with Apples Macbooks though.
