Samsung Galaxy S24 FE to be more expensive than its predecessor

10 September 2024
So much more, in fact, that it makes more sense buying an S24 or S24+ instead.

Sort by:

I really think Samsung should retire the FE line or simplify/rename existing products in the lineup. There's no reason why the FE, a line meant to be cheap, is the same price as the flagships. Absurd.

Right now I don't even know what the point is with the FE series. Even if you absolutely want a Samsung (and I say this as a regular Samsung customer):

    (1) You can save a good bit of money by getting an A5X device, which will provide far better value for money.

    (2) And if you still want flagship grade performance, you can buy last year's Galaxy flagship for the same price or the current one for just a little bit more; and both of those would still offer far better value for money.

Anonymous, 11 Sep 2024The FE doesn't even sell anymore. One can buy a chines... moreAnd the 6.7 inch screen? I waited to see how the 24 FE would follow up but I am happy I decided to go with the P9Pro. And I am pretty sure they will go the Crappinos on the S25 models too.

Anonymous, 11 Sep 2024The FE doesn't even sell anymore. One can buy a chines... moreProbably an OnePlus 12R would be better except in camera but it is not selling in my country as the Oppo's CEO thought it would better to hire good looking women standing in big mobile resellers chain rather than promoting the OnePlus brand. So yeah, it is the reason to consider S24FE or even S24+ as I believe I would not pay the right value for the Oppo compared to Samsungs or iPhone.

        And the region is Vietnam.

The FE doesn't even sell anymore. One can buy a chinese phone with actual flagship worthy specs for the same price

Watch as tech reviewers around the world (especially Indonesia) will give this phone the title of "best flagship killer" only because it's Samsung

iOS looking real appetizing now. I may as well conform. Samsung better shape up

Azu10157, 10 Sep 2024Literally losing my shit on how amusing this is. Isn't... moreIt's supposed to mean "Fan Edition" but it doesn't even include any of the things fans want anymore. It's now Forgotten E-waste.

All they need to do is go back to the original intention of this line. Either emulate a flagship phone for a lower price by cutting cornersbor keep the same price but change the configuration of components to actually make it in line with what the consumer values. The regular s line is the Samsung dictated configuration. Have FE be actually fan driven.

People will pay more when it comes with niche features and is also high functioning. If it was competitive, I would go with it simply due to a MicroSD slot or gimmicky features. I love unusual hardware and quality of life improvements.

No thanks. This phone will not bring you any value for money. I'd rather wait for A56.

In Indonesia vanilla S24 (8/258) is US$790 meanwhile S23FE (8/256) US$542. The price is from authorized dealer, tax included.

Indonesia is not that far from China or Korea but the price for Samsung is always way above US even India.

Anonymous, 11 Sep 2024My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined. ... moreI think maybe it's time to quitely say goodbye to the affordable flagships with top-of-the-line chips. Perhaps if they still want to continue the FE line, they should start shipping them with whatever Mediatek's top chip will be at that moment. If they keep going like this then "FE" should stand for "fail edition"

So Samsung didn't learn from S23 FE.

When S23 FE launched here, it was 120 euro MORE than base S23 at that moment.

If 128gb S24 FE will be 799 euro then:

                          Base S24 128gb is 612 euro now
                          Flip 5 256gb is 708 euro now
S24 Ultra 256gb is 988 euro now (a sale though)

And they dare to ask 799 euro?

Just like with Pixel A line, both Samsung and Google should learn to release these devices immediately when the flagships come out.

My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.

Then there is the latest news that Qualcomm is asking $240 a piece for their upcoming flagship SoC compared to the $200 on their last model. I think many saw this coming, and it's only going to get expensive going forward.

Other hardware might suffer and become stagnant; we can see this in effect now.

"So why would anyone choose the S24 FE over either of these? That's a good question, isn't it?"

Right. Much better the S24 or S24+, anyone in their right mind. Another FE, another fail from Samsung. They fail to understand pricing.

if this is true and people were holding out to buy the 24fe, theres very little reason to keep holding out for the s25s (esp considering as its just january), considering theyll get s8g4 worldwide.........
that is a harsh price increase.

I guess they don't really plan to sell any unit. They probably want to set the selling point for the S25 and S25+ higher. That's all.

Bye Samsung. I guess some of us are getting better phones especially us live in Indonesia. And iphone 13 is getting cheaper bcs Apple has released iphone 16 series, and the 13 will be more reasonable to get with more better experience.

Anonymous, 11 Sep 2024They made a single good FE phone in 2020, and followed it u... more(accidentally posted it already mid-writing) and since the S24 is about 600 euros, so double their next next cheapest offering, this should be a phone that should be very easy to position. The only reasonable explanation I can come up with is that in typical Samsung fashion, the launch price is way higher then the eventual actually price, which would fall bellow that. But a 200+ Euro difference would be crazy even for them.
