Infinix could launch the thinnest smartphone in half a decade

[deleted post]I'm using a Google Pixel 7 Pro, and just seeing how little Google's improved in the past 4 years (Pixel 6 series to 9) has made me want to get something else, most likely a Vivo.

As for which phone you should get, it completely depends on your location, budget and preferences. I got myself a Google Pixel in 2022 because of the cameras, the snappy software experience and the low amount of bloatware compared to Samsung. If cameras are not a priority, but rather performance, then the OnePlus 12R is very well priced for what it offers. If you want more specific advice, please tell me more so I can be more specific.

Thinnest tech products used to be cool especially when the ipad air was released and some of the ipods. However since we've all got mini computers in our pockets I don't care about the thinnest phone. I want bigger batteries more than anything else and fast charging.

My major concern is the speakers. Thinner phones mean that the speakers cannot move effectively. What a shame.

Their camera software is also just not good enough in a number of ways, especially with the shutter speeds, so even though 7 years of OS updates sounds awesome, I just can't justify going with them. Also, the S24 Ultra is huge, and its sharp corners are really uncomfortable.

Another thing is, Samsung seems to want to join the thin phone trend, so I don't know how long it'll be until they also make thin phones.

My S23U feels like a brick in my hand and you absolutely can't put it in your pocket unless you're wearing pants with a belt because it'll make your shorts fall down. A thinner phone will easily compensate for the thickness a case adds and it'll still weigh less and pack the same capacity battery as phones that are 8.5mm+ given new battery technologies. I would've agreed with you maybe 5 years ago, but technology is advancing and phones don't really have to be as thick and heavy as they are now anymore.

This phone is surely at least 16,7cm.tall.

Yes please, sick of thick and heavy phones for years now

Stop launching extremely thin phones. No one cares (or should care) about having phones this thin, it just makes them easier to drop. 99% of people put cases on their phones anyway, since you make them out of weak materials like glass because "it feels better in the hand" and "wireless charging", so they're not going to get the benefits of a thin phone, full stop.

The compromises required for devices this thin also make this not worth it. With a denser battery technology, I obviously want this to mean I get to have a larger battery capacity, and with it, better battery life. It shouldn't mean I get to have a thinner phone in exchange for no better/slightly worse battery life; worse cameras; a worse grip; and higher average temperatures due to worse heat dissipation. That's just tech evolving backwards while also being sold at ever-increasing prices — a.k.a highway robbery.
