Samsung Galaxy S25+ leaks in first renders, looks boring

17 September 2024
There are minor tweaks, but overall it's the same-old Samsung design that's also available on its cheapest smartphones.

"The phone should get 12GB of RAM and maybe even 256GB of base storage. Fingers crossed."

Both the S23+ and S24+ started at 256GB of storage so it's almost certain.

"looks boring" editor has no chill

I think it's good that Samsung's phones all look the same. If you have modest means and work/study with financially comfortable people, you won't be the odd one out even with an entry level Samsung. Samsung relies more on the entry level market, and they have the ultra for the high end market anyway.

If I wanted to flex I'd buy an iPhone pro with the distinctive 3 rear cameras, a folding phone, or a pixel to target the IYKYK crowd.

Every phone looks boring because it is basically the same design. We reached the point of matured smartphone technology and there is not much hardware innovation.
Just buy the device with specs which works for you as per your budget.
Now every company is pushing their software features (complex algorithms or as the marketing department calls it - AI).

Black ring around cam module gives very cheap looking to it.
No way anyone would thing that is a 1100 euros phone.

Couple months ago there was an article about how the highest tier at Samsung was not happy with mobile division choices.
            Nothing has changed apparently.

Worse, the minor tweaks over the previous generation make it look even uglier. Samsung, your aim to have brand recognisability is great, but this isn't the way to go about it. Give your phones sleek curves, like you used to, while keeping the screen flat; have distinctive camera bumps like before that join with the frame, though please make it better than the S21 and S22 series did; and please ditch the square corners on the Ultra phones.
