20 September 2024
The EU’s proceedings will also target fair, timely, and transparent interoperability requests for third-party developers.

Anonymous, 20 Sep 2024apple should just stop selling their devices to eu, rather ... moreThe EU has lost it completely.

Hm, I never had issues with smart devices on iPhones. I've had smart watches and bunch of earbuds. Also BT speakers. No issues. I also don't have any issues using AirPods 2 on Android or even Windows where I actually mostly use them. I even have Bluetooth Battery Monitor app on Windows that shows me battery levels of earbuds and AirPods 2 actually show both ear pieces and case charge where most other "open" ones only show ear buds and not case charge.

As far as Apple Watch goes, there is the same issue with deep integration just like WearOS watches don't work on iPhones. But others work just fine, like Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro that I have works fine on either.

So, I'm not quite sure what they are targeting specifically. Unless it's about deeper integration, but expecting that is a bit weird. It's not on Apple to provide that on Android when Android doesn't offer those features that are unique to iOS.

But let them deci... moreWhen it's an ecosystem a last portion of a population uses for both work and pleasure, the "it's my made stuff so I get to choose" goes out the window. At that point, the reach means control, which means they can wreck competition simply by not playing nice.

You know... Antitrust. A cornerstone of democracy everywhere.

It's nice to see EU dismantling Apple's anti-consumer and anti-competitive practices one by one each few months, gotta love these people.

But let them decide how and what services they will provide.
Let them decide their own prices. It's their business.
At less than 15% it's nowhere near close to a monopoly.

Dictators demanding compliance at the will of Apples competitors is so dystopian. Just pull out of the EU completely.

apple should just stop selling their devices to eu, rather they should sell all those into us and asian market with lower price and keep their oses secure the way they want.

"The European Commission (EC) has initiated two proceedings to help Apple comply with its interoperability obligations under the Digital Markets Act (DMA)."
This sentence is hilarious. I mean the part about help Apple to comply

Good luck with that.! The world has been trying it since iPhone 1.
