Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold wired charging support officially confirmed and it's disappointing

This is the most expensive Pixel 9, and the slowest to charge.

I suspect the charging speed is due to thermal limitations. The Pixel Fold may be less than 1mm thinner than the OnePlus Open, but that matters when you have less than 6mm to play with. Note that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is still capped at 25W wired charging, likely for the same reason. One battery heating up is bad enough, but you do not want two side by side batteries only separated only by incredibly thin plastic to heat up.

And likewise, all of the people who think the Pixel Fold is a joke are the joke themselves. Google isn't competing against Huawei or the most of the other Chinese manufacturers. They really only compete seriously in NA and Japan, so that leaves the competition in this form factor as Samsung, and maybe OnePlus.

    Google is a joke in mobile space. Why should anyone buy their phones?

        ni, 21 Sep 2024For you, doubt i never charge more then 10w I usually charge my S21 FE at 15W but I have a 25W when I am in a hurry. An extra 10% charge from using 25W may not sounds much but it is "every bit counts" for someone always on the move.

            taking into account y'all were touring the pixel as the best foldable....it gets beat by the fold6 in pretty much everything except that aspect ratio lol

              In closing end of 2024 and upcomming 2025 all phones from all brands should come with at least 90-100W charging speeds charger included in box.
              Anything below 67W should be either banned or a NO BUY for anyone.

                Ok, but why no hate stupid Samsung with Slow 25W 1h:26min 4400mAh, Pixel is little bit Fast 4650mAh And 10min more than Fold6 but ONLY 21W..

                  It feels as if Google doesn't actually care about foldables in the first place and only do it because of Android OS in the first place.

                      Was kinda expected. The device is very thin with fairly large battery and uses the standard PD charging protocol without any Chinese tricks (splitting battery cells, using proprietary charging protocols, unconventional battery chemistry, etc.)

                        Not at all surprised..I bought a Google phone and the battery life is hopeless and it takes forever to charge. The worst phone I have ever bought...would not recommend google phone to anyone

                              Kinda deserved for those idiots who paid $1800 for this overpriced garbage

                                People were touting this as "the best foldable" when it came out just because of the cover screen aspect ratio. In the end:

                                -Slow charging
                                -Slow SoC
                                -Snaps in half on a durability test other foldables have been passing since the beginning of foldables

                                Google's PR is insane. Any other manufacturer coming out with a phone this flawed would be criticized to no end.
