        Guess what, that's why Apple chose LTPO, for variable refresh rate. Samsung is still trying to produce it in volume that they only just put it on the regular Galaxy S starting with the S24. Apple will simply wait for better yield thus the roadmap is for iPhone 17 to get it. Simple.

            Frodo, 26 Sep 2024I'd take a bettet batterylife instead of 120hzdude theres this awesome trick you can do on phones with 120hz screens where you can *turn the feature off* if you want "better battery life" (the difference is minimal). but shockingly enough, theres no way to turn a 60hz screen into a 120 one.....

For the 17 lineup, only the 17 Pros would be worth it. If you are skipping the 16 for the 17, I would just wait for another year and get the 18 instead for 12GB of RAM. Having more RAM has been a very good predictor for better software support on Apple devices.

                          We changed idea (me and my bf) and we'll skip this year too. The phones (16 and 16 plus) looks great, but honestly the 60Hz sucks. Sorry, I'll wait for 17.

                            I wont ever buy an iphone just because of Software restrictions, but this time at least it looks nice. I never understood the diagonal cameras showing off that you are missing 1 camera on the back. Gives me Iphone 10 (X) vibes, which was quite a "different" phone for apple standards.
                            Hardwarewise - as a pixel fan - Im glad Google actually is a real competitor now. Both phones (Pixel 9 and Iphone 16) are quite the same, differing ofc, but not that many people will notice it. Sad that apple still uses 60hz.

Everyone is different, I'm a snobby guy about phones, doesn't mean everyone else is. There's a reason 60 hz has been a staple for so long, it's smooth enough to not be bad. Additionally, it's not like all games are 120 hz either and apps still seem to not be properly calibrated for 120 hz displays or something i still see 60 hz stuff from time to time.

                              prolonged exposure to any refresh rate can make it normal, if you use 240 hz all the time 120 hz will be slow to you but if you use 60 hz all the time, it's fine to you. simple thing.

                              Besides, the normies care more about the fact that it's an Apple phone with a dynamic island/a different camera island than they do about anything else. Design and brand value play an extremely important role in the buying decisions of normies.
