Nothing can compare to a Nokia. Nokia are the best phones in the world, I sell more of them than anything else.
Now that a Samsung is up against the 8800, it still doesnt change. Nokia are just too damn good.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2008I am a samsung fan but using symbian S60 to their product i... moreSymbian isn't exclusive to Nokia, they may be one of the main contributors but they aren't the only one.
The first Symbian phone was an Ericsson (R380 2000).
Why don't you do a bit of research before making statements like that.

But remember Erik this is targeted at the very high end segment where people either prefer expensive material or good specs, in this case Samsung covers both (the same with Nokia's offering).

Following on from recent comments I would add that high quality devices need not be ridiculous low tech fashion statements such as this device and the Carbon Arte. Samsung and Nokia should be showcasing technology for which they are renowned. Not issuing expensive bars of metal.

[deleted post]I agree that certainly Samsung are offering attractive handsets that are similar in specification to many Nokia offerings. This is in particular cases as they share the Symbian S60 operating system. However, it could be argued that some of their product portfolio is attempting to be alternatives to other manufacturers in other product segments. For instance the Omnia and i780 Windows mobiles are aiming at HTC and others in this segment, the G800 was clearly aiming at the Sony Ericsson K850i and the U900 Soul is aiming at the LG KF750 Secret. I guess when you operate in such a crowded market cmparisons are bound to made. But it is clear that Samsung are operating across a very wide range of operating systems and markets, perhaps more than any other.
As for those devices you mentioned being comparable to Nokia devices, well, it won't harm Samsung to be in such excellent company.
What will be interesting is how committed all manufacturers are in the next few quarters to providing high quality devices and not yielding to the foolish temptation to launch cheaper devices due to the economic climate at present with inferior build quality and technology on board. If they do, people will just buy a device that may be a few quarters older since its launch but having better quality.

My comment is? why would Samsung make a Bar phone as a luxury phone? yet they split it into two different colored segments to make it look like a slider..
Why dont they make a slider in the first place....

Amazing that a company with an excellent reputation in technology would release these low tech dinosaurs onto the market. The same goes for the carbon arte range by Nokia.
