I purchased a Magic 5 pro and my only issue really is the supposed fast charging that stopped working and now taking hours to charge, really no help from Honour customer services or tech apart from advice to replace cable and fast charger, no difference, so in future will be going another brand unfortunately, ex long term Huewai user!!!

It's the display, and no matter what kind of protection they use, it's still just glass. And it will break sooner or later. Even flagship phones fail with their fancy glass protections. It's all marketing. And in fact, if you just look at durability videos on samsung flagships for example, they fail usually right on first drop. So that latest gen glass doesn't really hold up, apparently
In the end, smartphones are a fragile mess and for that reason I always avoid buying an expensive phone. The fragility and cost of repairs are absurd for a device that's basically a necessity in 2024

The words smartphone and durab... moreI mean, they could use a stainless steel compound across the phone's entire body and frame (excluding antennae lines and the part with the wireless charging coil of course), and design it so that it wraps around the outer parts of the display in the kind of way a case does and creates a ridge-like shape. Use Gorilla Glass Armour for the display (and make it flat, though that's very obvious), make the phone thicker (9.5-9.9mm thick) by making the stainless steel compound used thicker, and voila! Much more durable. Bonus points for an IP69K rating, a MIL-STD-810H rating, making the ridge part of the bezel itself (so metal bezel instead of plastic), and a weight distribution that's as perfectly even as possible.
The problem is that OEMs are all obsessed with glass backs and other fragile designs that have advantages that are at best a gimmick, and at worst just supposedly more aesthetically pleasing.

The words smartphone and durability don't go together. Any smartphone that claims to be durable is rather just a slightly better built device. After an extent of dropping, they all usually break
