Anonymous, 28 Jul 2013Someone speculated at another cellphone website that i1 may... moreI'm pretty sure that Sony will use tft display on this since it is an IP57 phone, OLED display is rather not suitable for water proof phone since it is "organic" and may get damaged by water.
Sony Z display quality is not good is not the fault of tft technology, but the quality of the display which shouldn't used on an high-end device with such quality. Triluminos display is still a tft and the X-reality is just some software trick, so how much effort will Sony put on the display is the real question. But the ZU display shows a good improvement compare to Z, tot it is from a display unit but not from a actual device. Hopes Sony won't disappoint ppl again with bad display.

No Xenon, No big sensor, maybe no real OIS....just another Xperia Z and Galaxy 4 clone for the masses. So sad and boring.

You can never describe this as ugly. Not to your particular taste, fine , that is OK. The design language follows the Xperia Z which the HTC One apart is probably the best looking phone of the last 12 months. Personally, I will have to wait to see this in the metal as not too sure any phone longer that than the Z is pocket friendly but then again, it is meant to be thinner. If not this then may very well go for the LG G2 but LG's history of support for its phones is beyond poor plus they hardly have any resale value!

Anonymous, 28 Jul 2013Someone speculated at another cellphone website that i1 may... moreThe quantum dots have nothing to do with the pixels, and are the same same whether they are used in a 5" screen or a 50" screen. The display on the Z Ultra (and more than likely on this one as well) is a normal IPS LCD display, but the back-lighting is not a white LED like normal, but a blue LED that illuminates red and green quantum dots. The result being purer white light which is then filtered. The advantage is you don't have all those "crap" frequencies floating around like you do with a normal LCD. The filters are tuned to the back-light colors, and color purity, contrast, and efficiency are enhanced.

AnonD-106654, 28 Jul 2013"Stamina mode" can some 1 please tell me what's t... more"Stamina mode" is generally same as many conventional battery saving apps in Google Play which trying to increase the "Standby Time" of a phone by eliminate as much data/wifi traffic as it can during standby mode in order to increase the battery performance since data/wifi traffic consumes many powers. You will not able to receive email,whatsapp/Line/other chat messages during standby as all your phone is considered as "offline" in standby mode, you may add exception to certain apps so that they won't go offline in standby mode (which is again, same as many conventional battery saving apps).
But since it improve ONLY THE STANDBY TIME of your phone, thus it is rather useless/not effective for heavy users as most of the time their phone are not in standby mode while it is effective for moderate and light users.

sony! the phone bezel is way too big! and the 3 function buttons needs to be a part of the bezel and not a part of the screen! - these are major major flaws! why do you repeat these xz flaw again with honami??? learn from your mistakes!

Then the manufacturing of Triluminous displays, are they able to make that small quantum dot subpixels, or is there a practical manufacturing related issue that caused z ultra to have that overkill big display?
Lots of potential buyers will hate Sony if this is another tft lcd.

I have used sony xperia z n find many problems in it,please correct it sony before launching. 1st the display goes dim after abt 5 min usage altough the Screen timeout is set to the max 10 min.the display has a paler colour concentration and lower contrast than samsung samoled.2ND battery lifes deteroites easily than note 2. 3rd very feeble speaker 4rd the device goes hot easily. If sony can correct this the next flagship will be samsung serious threat.
