stexx, 03 Oct 2024Samsung is far away from Oura Ring.Considering it's without a subscription and the ring cost is the same, then Oura ring should be much better. I don't play on buying first gen device (in any category) so let's see what Samsung and Oura bring to the table in a year or so.

I love to wear mechanical watch while still wanted to keep track of step counts and heartbeat etc. and I have to admit I was wearing a small heath tracker on my right wrist (let's leave out accuracy here shall we, as layman like us definitely don't need accuracy of competitive sports athletes), these health tracking ring do away with obvious health tracker on my right wrist
btw, I have Amazfit Helio ring, which does not require any monthly subs as well

Let's say you'll use the ring for three years. That puts the price at a whopping 600 euros.
For that money you can get a Samsung Galaxy Ring AND a Samsung Galaxy Watch FE.
Methinks Oura needs to change their business strategy a bit.

I have R18 ring at throw away price which has been giving all kind of random numbers wrt steps, heart rate, sleep tracking. The software seems to be like that of Apple Watch Ultra knock-off from China without any software that can really give you proper data. Even my Smart watches from Samsung (Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch 6 classic both LTE) giving accurate results wrt various fitness and body vital measurements.These are expensive and most likely useless toys in many cases
