No real upgrade in rear cameras. The LYT600 periscope replacing the OV64b periscope is the only change and is more of a sideways step rather than a step forward

Speed difference between readout modes are too much.
Lower res = faster readout.
Isocell hm3 takes 0,1s to shoot one 108mp frame.
This means 0,1s to scan entire sensor before starting taking next frame.
Majority of these 50MP are 50mp@30fps, about 33ms readout. Very poor.
While about 1/3 at 12.5mp.

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2024The LYT-T808 is 48MP I thought.Lyt800/T808 is 52mp 1/1.35" , but only 48mp 1/1.43" can be used.
Sensor has 4,3:3 shape.
Multi-aspect.
To keep same FOV between video and photos.
You can never use 52mp. The pixels outside image circle help the EIS.

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2024The LYT-T808 is 48MP I thought.The LYT-T808 is the new name of the IMX888, which is a 52MP, 16:11, 1/1.35"-type sensor with a 1.12µm pixel pitch. When cropped into 4:3, the resolved crop is equivalent to a 1/1.43"-type sensor with a 48MP resolution.

The design is arguably generic compared to the X7 Pro and ColorOS is back to looking like an iOS ripoff as well, but I don't think people realize how insane it is that Oppo got this hardware to fit inside a 6.5" phone at 190g and only 7mm thick. You only see 5000mAh+ batteries on phones that are over 6.7" that are usually a bit thicker than the X8.

3 years of updates from Oppo. And buggy as hell OS. Would love to see Oppo succeed outside Asia, but they have to up their SW game.

Also, the Samsung ISOCELL GW1 was an absolutely amazing sensor. Quad Bayer should never have been allowed to exist, we need either 20-24MP Bayer sensors or 50MP Bayer sensors that bin their pixels (this is if the reduced pixel pitch of 20-24MP sensors proves to cause too much trouble).
