06 October 2024
The M1 is the successor to the incredibly popular MDR-7506.

I wonder how these compare with the AKG K-371 (which I own) for office/home use.

gremio.net, 08 Oct 2024Does anyone have any idea why Sony changed the 90º rotation... moreIf I just had to make a guess, I would say it's to preserve the life of the earpads as facing them outside instead of against your clothing will prevent damage over time.

gremio.net, 08 Oct 2024Does anyone have any idea why Sony changed the 90º rotation... moreSony likes testing tweaks in their designs from time to time. Dont worry, they will notice if sales drop due to the redesign

Does anyone have any idea why Sony changed the 90º rotation to the outside when it is much more practical and ergonomic to rotate it inwards, as it was before?

I'm here thinking and trying to figure out what the justification was for making this change. If the idea was to scare away potential customers, they're succeeding.

I like the brand, but things like this bother me.
        :/

Calling it an improvement when the sound quality section is full of complaints is really sad. Mediocrity is where it's at, it seems, no matter how you twist it

This might be the funniest damn thing I ever saw on this website hahahahahahahaha

"The only time I could wear them for over an hour was while gaming and that's only because the pain from the headphones was hard to notice over the pain of playing Overwatch 2 ranked."

The old Sony one's mentioned for how this supposedly should be successor actually whose series of three models. Two EU - US one's with foldable cups 100~130 $ and third not foldable JA only at first and by far the best from those for about 200 $. For today standard (Harman) neither of them had a great follow to it nor could they based on different philosophy (Onkyo institute). From today standard Sony I would still pick MDR-1AM2 over this for feel and look's if nothing else. Of course there are a lot of similar cans from different brands similar sounding also and in the same price bracket (200~300 $) but Sony's are still competitive and come with a toy balanced cable which you won't ever need (instead you need -12 dB cut unbalanced out). Those with DSP correction (Auto-EQ, Wavelet and so on) sound more than fine and also are very little and over efficient. For running such ond sensitive IEM's underpowered Apple USB C EU version dongle comes handy (with a volume tweak in USB Audio player Pro on Android).

I will save everyone money and say to get the previous model

This new design will break the hinge. Its happening already on the ULT Wear and the WH-1000Xm5.

Theres a reason the previous model was in production for 3 decades, something I really doubt for this new one...
