Only 8 quick settings instead of the current 12, and they're without labels... That's a massive downgrade for so much wasted space. And the volume control just eats up the brightness's space which is also idiotic.

Minu, 07 Oct 2024What proves Samsung's lack of a hardware proximity sen... morethere IS a proximity sensor, it's RIGHT BELOW the camera! It took me 1 whole year to find out the exact placement lmao cus i messed around with it each day and then slowly found out one day when i wasn't busy.

ehh i've used samsung flagships since the s7 edge and it takes roughly the same time, what im more mad about is the fact that it's far more annoying to choose between torch/compass and other stuff in the edge menu cus now it's a drop down menu! it used to be different and far easier to use. I hate updates like this so much man! OneUI 5 was the best in terms of usability. They change stuff for the sake of changing. It all sucks.

oh wow. the brightness thing sounds interesting but i think it's less of a brightness thing and more of a capturing data thing, i think they have a brightness sensor and take photos to just sell your data, that's all.

parallax wallpapers, hmm i remember having them haha, they're nice but not a must have.

oh wow custom vibration alerts, that's nice. but about the intensity, you can adjust the intensity of vibrations, modern vibration motors in the samsung flagships are pretty weak unless they're in your hand cus they move in a different axis. That's it. But yeah, it's pretty annoying!

eh i think having OLED is enough, all that matters next is peak brightness and how long high brightness can be sustained. Viewing angles are leaps and bounds better than VA/TN panels. IPS panels are still quite nice and oleds are basically the same level imo. Slight tints aren't that bad, contrast loss is bad imo.

huh, i haven't felt any major differences in Li-ion vs Li-poly honestly. I used an M31 for a year and after a year of using my S22U it feels like the battery health percentage lost is the same.

Control/command center is a stupid UX concept.

Notification center and quick settings combination is the more superior approach. The two shouldn't be seperated, it just causes inconvenience. Function over form.

Nameless, 08 Oct 2024It's very much compact, by todays' standarts. True, considering now that Apple has increased the display size of the Pro Max series from 6.7" to 6.9", I wouldn't be surprised if Android phone makers increase the largest option of their flagship or mid-rangers screen size from 6.7/6.8" to 6.9", 7" and above soon, and I would expect 6.1"-6.3" would be considered compact again by today standards. It seems the ratio paradigm shift from 16:9 to 18:9-21:9 didn't make phone size smaller or stay the same as the 16:9 era, it's gotten bigger.

DBS, 08 Oct 2024Really? And have they made it black again? I've been ... moreWell, if you examine the Xperia 1 VI review on this site, subsection software (Page 4), if you saw the picture and read the paragraph of the notification centre/quick toggles of Xperia Home UI, you'll notice the box-shaped toggles (the biggest different with Pixel UI) that I already cross-checked with Xperia Z3's review software's section in this site.

While not an exact copy as Z3's quick toggle or notification centre (of course, Android 4.4 vs 14, the different foundation of Android between them is noticeable), the quick toggles of 1 VI and 10 VI in Android 14 do resemble the Z3's more industrial, boxy shaped than pill-shaped of Material You themed. That's why this site called the toggle in Xperia 10 VI review "retro". It's more like the older Android style.

Sure, the main theme of the newer Xperia is still based on colour-palette shifting Material You, but some noticeable discrepancies happened for the first time in Xperia and Google Pixel UI in a while though.

I've been staying away from Sony 'cause their software had become stock-ish garbage since they shut down Xperia Themes.
If they're reverting back to good design, I might return to their phones.

I don't like this new control centre design. I much prefered the old stock android look. Sigh

The pull down shade with all the toggles has worked perfectly for years; why reinvent the wheel? Unless, of course, Samsung just wants to mindlessly ape the iPhone's Control Center! If I wanted and iPhone I'd get one; I wouldn't get an android replica of it...
