Good move. But will it run properly with weak hardware? At least go for A36 or A56 if you want Samsung but can't afford a flagship.

I'm not that optimistic with the future-proof software stability and long-term use of sustainable performance of A16 5G with the configuration of MediaTek Dimensity 6300 configuration consists of Cortex-A76 with the option 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage (despite using UFS) in 6 years to come and amount of updates. The Exynos 1330 configuration consists of Cortex-A78 with the option 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB is much better and hopeful though. But we'll see in the future though, considering Galaxy Note10 and S10 series latest update messed the devices' stability.

Okay, at this point the software support is just a marketing feature to make budget Samsungs stand out from other budget devices, as hardware-wise they fall tragically short, same as their "midrange" does.

I've had S20+ for several years now, even got Watch5pro half a year ago, so pretty into samsung ecosystem. But S20+ is barely usable now with battery not lasting half a day even with battery saving at all times and battery change. I can't afford S24+ or S24U rn, so thought I'd look at midrange offerings - and the only thing A55 does better than my S20+ is battery, everything else is way worse or equal.
In the end, ordered Honor 200 pro today. Cost me 100€ more than A55. Will see how it goes, but at least most of the spec sheet is an upgrade over 4 year old phone.....

I bet Android 17 won't run smoothly on 4 gigs of RAM not to mention Android 20.

Budget A series are scam with poor build quality. They don't get knox security, secure folder and other one UI features. Go for A30 and above.

                  6 yrs updates?
S series get latest android updates asap within a year but for low end phones it takes 2 yrs.
Technically its 3 yrs of os updates and 6 yrs of security updates

I love to see so many OS specialists here.
They know all about the future.
Can you give me the loto numbers, too?

                    LOL

Samsung tends to throttle lower-end Galaxy A phones every time a new OS update drops, so I'm not holding my breath on this claim.

lot of people crying here, hahaha if you don't like it. don't buy it. better get crappy chines or Indian brands with lots of adds buggy os from day one and lack of software updates good luck :)

If the A16 lost it's headphone jack then the A26 will ditch that too.

I'm more excited to see the A26, it feels like it will get a huge refresh that will get it to be at the level of A34. 🙏

PureOS, 2 hours agoGuys, stay away from this phone. Yes , it will get 6 years ... moreSimple.

After 2 years , even on S and Z series the patches start to be every 3 months.
                            Then every 4 months.
                            Then every 6 months.
At some point, only once with new android.

Exybos varient may survive but dimensity is not a good option

infinix is crying in the corner🤣

By the 3rd OS update it'll likely already be extremely laggy with that SoC and a skin heavy as OneUi also good luck with 4gb of ram even in 2024 let alone in 2030. Samsung's seems to have found a new marketing tactic here or just straight up doing crack.

Guys, stay away from this phone. Yes , it will get 6 years of android, but they don't mention how it will work. There is a catch. They always has coverage, cause they rly didn't say anything about fluidity. Plus, 4gb of ram? Its bare minimum even today, and that on stock android. Again, stay away from this!!!!

That chin is hideous. Also, if you're going to be having 6 years of software support (and why not make it 7 at that point if your flagship devices do 7?), you HAVE to give this phone UFS 2.2 and 8GB of RAM. 4GB and eMMC just ain't cutting it.

Would gladly exchange half of the promised years for OS support for a punch hole display and a headphone jack. Doubt 4GB of RAM would cut it by 2030 and just imagine how dated the notch would be by then 😅
