    Big news! Three identical slabs.

VicsanIdiot, 09 Oct 2024ah yes, samsung changed an entire assembly line and design ... moredo you understand that Samsung has such minute differences in their phones each year that bumping up the display is something that's a completely simple thing for them in terms of costs? have you seen their profit numbers? Look, I understand that they knew about this half a year ago due to their research/industry plants, but that's it, they knew about this and only took action AFTER Apple started the change.

What's your point buddy? Phones have the same screen sizes cus the display manufacturers make batches of those displays and phone manufacturers buy THOSE. If Samsung's making the displays for Apple, they can just do the same thing for their own screens, it ain't rocket science, they make their own displays. Additionally, they have always had different sizes compared to other brands as they make their own stuff. For example, LG Displays reserved the largest MLA panels each year for LG TVs. So yeah, since these makers own the display manufacturers, they can do whatever they want and their costs would be far less for them as well. Simple stuff really. I don't know what you're on about but if your name is Vic your username's quite valid.

kula, 09 Oct 2024s25,s25+ may come with 9400S25+ Snapdragon only.

Anonymous, 09 Oct 2024Please include a new set of cameras in vanilla modelNot happening. If S25U is not getting, then why are you expecting on base S25? Samsung is least innovative company in the world.

Mustajab, 09 Oct 2024Would be a good move by Samsung to use Qualcomm across the ... moreDimensity for base most probably. Samsung have cracked deal with Mediatek for their chips. That's why Samsung is using Dimensity for Tab and S25 most probably. I hope rest two will use Snapdragon all over the world. I am not expecting anything better from both S25+ and S25U. Display wise S25+ might be upgraded for sure.

              All ridiculously oversized.
And seeing as the rest of the hardware will continue to be garbage and the software is now trash too, this will be yet another very easy skip for me... And I have a feeling I won't be alone.

When will Samsung add Laser AF to the S25+? 🤨

jiyen235, 09 Oct 20240.1 inch.... what are you even on about????? People complai... moreSo I picked up a Galaxy S7 edge (2016) for $40 in mint condition the other day from OfferUp, and I forgot there was a period when Samsung was killing it from the design department. When I originally had the S7e back in 2017, I didn’t exactly care for it. I only had it for 6 months and sold it next to my OG Pixel only a few days apart. I hated the curve display.

I only picked this S7e out of the blue because I miss the design and it has MST. I’m not planning to use it very much except to stream movies and TV shows. This S7 edge is in the same titanium silver as the one I had over 7 years ago and can also be seen for two seconds in the longer Anora (2024) trailer. From 2015-2019, Samsung killed it in design after going through the plastic era from 2010-2014.

                    S6 edge / Note5
                    S7 edge / Note7
                    S8 / Note8
                    S9 / Note9

Peak era for smartphones in design happened from 2013-2019. Galaxy Note9 (2018) was the last Note to have expandable storage and headphone jack. We did get the S10e in 2019 which also had both, but Samsung never made another compact one until the base S23. Then at some point by the 2020s, everything started looking exactly the same. Their Z Folds and Z Flips have never been elite in design. Then we got boring designs out of iPhones and S Ultras.

I’m starting to think 2018-2019 were the last great years we had in phones. LG eventually exited the mobile market. HTC is barely in it. We no longer have headphone jack and microSD slot in flagships unless you buy a Sony Xperia but they haven’t made a compact phone since 2017 and only make taller, narrow phones these days as seen with their Xperia 5 Mark I-VI series.

Comparing S7 edge vs. S8 vs. S9, I’d go S7e, S9, and S8 in that order similar to Final Fantasy 7-9. I didn’t like the fingerprint placement of the S8. The S9 corrected that and people easily forget what a jump we had going from Snapdragon 820 and 835 to 845. Looking back 8 to nearly 9 years ago, 845 is quite a leap from 820 after only 2 years.

Let’s not forget for five generations with the S and Note line, Samsung was killing it starting with the S6 edge in 2015 and ending with the Note9 that many called was the last great Note. And Samsung caters to different markets for the budget, midrange, and high end. This S7 edge is still a beauty to look at and it’s better looking than the HTC One M7 and M8 and first generation space gray iPhone SE.

Samsung is very capable of making amazing-looking phones. They also made the Galaxy Beam and Galaxy Camera. I don’t know what happened to them by 2022? Same old, same old when they were beating Apple in design for a good half decade.

                    2015: S6 edge > iPhone 6S
                    2016: S7 edge > iPhone 7
                    2017: S8 > iPhone 8 and X
                    2018: S9 > iPhone XS and XR
                    2019: S10 > iPhone 11

you do actually know why so many phones have the same screen size, right?

Didn't they sue Samsung because they used round shape? Isn't Samsung using square shape for years? All those note series and some ultra model since s2 days? So know it's Iphone who invent square shape and Samsung is copying?

Everyone will follow the iPhone's square shape and flat screen, I still remember many people saying that curved is more beautiful than flat, but many are hypocritical and follow the flat screen again like the iPhone.
