+1 for you.
Qualcomm Snapdragon, Mediatek Dimensity, Samsung Exynos, plus other "RISC" type CPU punching up their weight class.
While Intel, AMD, VIA (if still alive) and other "CISC" type CPU are punching down their weight class.

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2024Still X86 architecture 🤔 Well... 🤷🏻♂️It's not like most desktop software devs already jumped into desktop ARM bandwagon anyway.

WalterC, 12 Oct 2024Doesn't seem like it will beat the best of what AMD is... moreWell i am thinking same. My Lenovo 16 inch capable of 4k resolution Laptop powered by Ryzen 7 series coupled with 32GB ram and a Gefirece3070 RTX doing absolutely great. Playing Assassins Creed Valhalla on maxed resolution having 406 hours in game still very far from completing to 100% but had no issues when playing.

wait I'm kinda confused
is it Xe (alchemist) or Xe2 (battlemage like laptop 200 series) cause the igpu performance would be really different between those two

Dunno who gonna manufacturer their new batch of cpu's, i've heard it's gonna be TSMC else if it's still gonna be Intel, avoid it at all costs.

Cpt.Power, 11 Oct 2024Looks good question is will it beat AMD Ryzen Cpus or not???Doesn't seem like it will beat the best of what AMD is going to bring, since their X3D chips are still faster for gaming. It's a little funny that about 6-8 years ago, Intel was for gaming and AMD was for productivity, and now it's the reverse

so the preivous i5-14xxx naming method is discontiued? or there will be still i5-15xxx coming? this is unclear. that naming had been used for over 10 years. not easy to adapt immediately.

Props to Intel for going really hard on power efficiency this year instead of chasing raw performance gains. The power efficiency claims look WILDLY impressive, but I will wait for real life results - Zen 5 was also supposed to be a beast based on press materials, but it turned out to be an absolute flop. Never trust big corpos with their marketing!

This design is completely new from intel utilizing the idea of out-of-order multi decoders for e-cores and also the removal of SMT (so no more local cores) from p-cores which enabled them to optimize the physical core better (I assume that after they removed the SMT they freed up some space which they used for optimization). I expect great things from Intel in the upcoming years, this was just a start.

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2024Intel Core Ultra 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 would be better names...... more200s as thats is their 2nd bs naming scheme for laptop. worry not tho since amd will follow suit. theyre on 9000s which is 9th ryzen series, and already opting bs naming for their laptop cpus.
intel i9/i7 for 13 and 14 gen has a severe issue so comparing new 200s against their flops doesnt sound logical. anyway, we just need to wait for those high baller to test em out and see for any meaningful uplifting vs price
even amd 9000s doesnt hold much value compared to their 7000s. if theyre moving from am4, thats a wiser choice (if price is right). my 5800x3d work flawlessly still

Hugo, 11 Oct 2024You mean the oxidation righ. Also removing hyper threadi... moreno, oxide poisoning was only an issue in very, very early 13 gen chips. what 13 and 14th gen both suffer is degradation due to insane VID calls, since intel decided to try to compensate for VDroop and load line settings (all of this just means that your processor really enjoys randomly making 1.55v calls when it predicts some workload is going to happen, and needs 6ghz)

Just like the Core Ultra 200V, no Core 3 series.
A segment where Intel has an advantage.
Now it's safe to say, "used to have an advantage".
It looks like it's safe to say that both Intel and AMD has abandoned the 3 segment.
It's kind of a shame though.
This segment really benefited minimalist to low use case users, small businesses, and schools due to it's low cost.

They're cramming CPU releases into 2024, getting rid of HyperThreading, and saying aloud, "WE HAVE CUT POWER CONSUMPTION IN HALF," treating it like we are running it on batteries. LMFAO, I'm shocked that the TSMC N3B process didn't contribute to making it more efficient by a considerable margin.

No Intel until 2027.
I will wait to see their faulty processors to finish off the shelves first.
I never trust until 3 years get past.
Mine failed almost a year after purchase date, so you never know when it will suddenly die.

Also removing hyper threading seems to be a mistake considering that software tends ro use the least cores possible.
