As long as the other brands insisting removing the 3.5mm jack, MicroSDXC card slot, too heavily skinned UI, no proper physical shutter button, no front-firing stereo speakers, and using punch-hole display, and following Apple's footsteps blindly, I am staying with Sony Xperia, even if I had to spend more than I usually do.

I love the Xperia smartphones I'm using XZ2 as we speak and it my sixth Xperia phone from P1, M5, Goh, XA1 ultra.
Please Sony comeback to South-africa.
And make Me your ambassador.
Most people are clueless about Xperia due to lack of advertising.

Moki, 14 Oct 2024They should have used a better chipset for their budget lin... moreXiaomi is selling phones in giga quantity. Sony is not. The end of story. Every couple of months Xiaomi or their (sub) brands release a "new" model. Also they have streamlined their offerings with Redmi and Poco (sub) brands and using the same parts. Why that matter? If you order 50M of parts for making your product, you will get them for way cheaper then the one who orders 5 or 10 times less.
They have totally different bussiness model. Xiaomi, Poco and Redmi to achieve a profit in selling phones have to constantly push new models, like every 6 months or less. Another thing is that Chinese brands have enourmous help in logistics. They have everything in their homeland which has a huge impact on end price. Sony is really really expensive brand as a whole, but to compare it with the likes of something like a Poco F6 is not fair. You took the most affordable mid-range model and compare it with the flagship. That says a lot.
Not just from you. There are many people who are looking at just one thing. Performance for buck. Poco wins that every time, so the race is over. Or, maybe they should't even be in the same sentence yet alone comparation. Maybe. But people see two phones and think hey.. this one is fast like this one but costs 3 times less. Sure. Chipset performance is all people look for. Oh. And numbers. Big numbers in specs.
Example:
people still commenting how can Phone come with 4GB of RAM and people still buys them for 1.5k €. That is an insane comparation. Iphone uses IOS, not Android. Android OS needs more RAM. For God sake you all have all your answerd on the internet and you still make such a foolish statements...

So they can manage to fix what's wrong or need to improve before selling it to other phone companies like Apple, Realme, Xiaomi and so on. Cause I noticed something like whenever there are new type of sensor they made. They put it on the Xperia Phones. Then for example in Iphones next phone. That new type of sensor they use on Xperias will be used on the next iPhone.

Not caring about market/sales is what led to Sony phones retaining the quality and uniqueness other phones lack, such as headphone jack, microSD slot, front facing stereo, no notch, IP65 etc that conscious customers care about.
Other brands, who rely heavily on smartphone sales for income has gone too far, to the point of making every decision based on maximizing profits, even at the great expenses of level and quality that conscious customers care about. That's why yesterday it was microSD slot, today headphone jack, tomorrow buttons and then USB C.
Unfortunately for customers though, since Sony feels no competition, it knows people who really want those features have no choice but to get an Xperia no matter what the price is.
My suggestion is to buy this phone in 2026 when price will be affordable. For now get the Xperia 5 V.
