The new scribe, lacking the ability to annotate PDFs or other documents, is simply a wasted investment.

The basic kindle has only faster page turners? The 16GB was in 2022 edition too.

Other differences are, the Kindle uses reflective LCD, while the Kobo uses Kaleido e-ink. Reflective LCD has a 60Hz refresh rate vs once every week on Kaleido e-ink. The colour saturation is also way better on reflective LCD. The downside with reflective LCD is the same as for all LCD, terrible viewing angles, something e-ink like Kaleido does not suffer from.

It would been nice if Amazon made a colour version of the larger Scribe. That is a comic book sized e-reader. Though, they'd probably slap a 600 buck price tag on a colour e-reader at that size.

The colour edition is way too overpriced. They should have given it in an oasis body or added buttons at least.

The kobo libra colour seems like such a better deal and has buttons too.

The price for the Kindle Scribe is just way too much. I understand it's a new tech and supposedly still subsidized by Kindle subscriptions, but it's still too high to swallow. Yes, it's a different product, but a base 6/128 Samsung Tab S9 FE can be had for $100 cheaper from Amazon with way more functionality and the ability to install a free focus launcher like Indistractable to achieve the same result as a super productivity-oriented tablet. You can also disable/delete most of Samsung's bloatware for a cleaner experience with a free proper stylus. If you're in the US, I read that people can get that same tablet for almost 100-200 USD after trading in a 5-7 year old tablet.

Damn, that's a high price for what a basic paper notebook can accomplish
