raditz594, 23 Oct 2024Are you familiar with tablets and/or laptop computers?Yes, I am. If you want a big display, then it makes way more sense to have a normal phone and a tablet instead of one device that does a poor job at being both.

Samsung has prototype years ago, one is in display for public in their panel museum. The news should not be they're working on, but where they're, any progress

Please stop releasing these impractical form factors and make a proper phone. foldable with a qwerty keyboard on one side and screen on other side so it can mimic a mini laptop

Better samsung come out with a better 3 fold than Huawei, otherwise Huawei will fold them packing. more choice means better quality and price for those who want to buy it.

FF7, 22 Oct 2024A survey had 70% of people who currently own a foldable whe... moreI think I found the survery, but I can't get to it without a subscription. It was a survery of 3500+ Owners from the USA, China and Europe. You probably read a reference to it. Foldables obviously have not taken off like they were projected. Costs and durability issues are likey key set backs. The Z6 is not selling well, but Honor is also offering 300 off their foldable so I think all foldables sales are down. At this point, we should be looking at 30-40 million sales. Not 16-17 mill.
Most average consumers have little knowledge about foldables. When you hear bad things about the durability, it hurts the image of all foldables. Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending a fold w/o telling someone they are still a risk. I doubt that would give them much confidence.

How about writing about the real world issues with that Huawei YouTube influencer phone instead? Unsurprisngly, it breaks extremely easily, for the blatantly obvious reason of that exposed folding part.
I highly doubt Samsung will ever release a "tri-fold" like Huawei. They tend to prioritise durability for devices used as real daily drivers.
They are very likely and obviously experimenting with formats that will allow a "regular" 2:1-3:2 format foldable. But, it will never be a model owners can't use as a real phone.

After having spent entire workdays fixing the current generation of fold phones all I can say is KILL IT WITH FIRE (or find a way to teach people how to properly care for these delicate things most people seem to think they're as indestructible as an old Nokia brick)
