The moment the chinese brands delivers a Fold like phone by USD 500 and the knockoff and cheaper brands use Dual Screens like the LG ones for USD 200, Samsung would lose a BIG chance.

Cheaper fold doesn't have to be thinner or lighter. It will sell more because its cheaper. Cheaper foldables outsell samsung in every category. Tecno, One Plus, Motorola

The only markets where the cheaper Fold would make sense would be Europe and North America, where Samsung's only real competition is the Pixel Fold, and maybe the OnePlus Open. So given that Samsung is already dominating the folding phone market in these places, it's no surprise they're cancelling the budget option.
