Anonymous, 24 Oct 2024But 1/1.3" is bigger than 1/2"Ah, dang it! You're right. Unfortunately, I was never good with fractions, but using an inch fraction calculator I found online, I find that 1/2" = 0.5", and 1/1.3" = 0.77".
I can't edit my comment now, which sucks... but what I said about it not being big enough still stands. 1" is still better than 1/1.3, and IMO should come in every action cam.

8K resolution on a 1/1.3" sensor for a smartphone? Pretty impressive.
8K resolution on a 1/1.3" sensor for an action cam? That's... not great.
I've seen action cams from this company that have 1/2", even 1" sensors that fit the same form factor AND are priced relatively well. Pushing 8K on a 1/1.3" sensor is not horrible, but even with AI smoothing, it's not gonna be anywhere near the quality of a bigger sensor - and at $400? You can invest in a 6K camera with a bigger sensor from the same company at this price!
In short - go for bigger sensors, not more pixels.
