It's definitely not something we've seen often before.

LvTuBe, 24 Oct 2024You see. Brands want to make their brand image. They want t... moreKinda not... Xioami's hyper os is sticking to their ios like experience and they're proud of it, probably not the right word but they're not denying it i hope they bring back the rectangle design like the mi 11 ultra. Its unique and no one has ever done that design before

fotomon, 27 Oct 2024"While the camera bump itself is circular like it'... moreYes! Thats what's in my mind, you can look at @technet513 from tiktoks post its a concept of xiaomi 16 ultra with an inspired design from mi11 ultra and completely flat boxy design

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2024I think you're absolutely right. I honestly don't... moreThey should introduce the rectangular camera design again like the mi11 ultra, it will fit them all without having a problem

Zygocaste, 26 Oct 2024the reason why the camera placement is like this is because... moreI think you're absolutely right. I honestly don't get the hate. Without making the camera bump wider or removing a camera, the periscope simply wouldn't fit without a design like this. I honestly prefer this design over the x100U, with it's painted on fourth "lens".

alirezaasol, 24 Oct 20242x telephoto? vivo x100 pro and x100 ultra takes perfect 2x... moreThat was my thought, originally, but I think it makes sense... Assuming similar 50mp sensors as the 14u, the 1x sensor is capable of 2x "lossless" zoom. A 2x should be capable of about a 4x equivalent lossless zoom. Choosing a 2x simply bridges the gap more evenly... at least on paper.

oh wow, the camera arrangement looks ugly
I know it shouldn't matter but... it kinda does

"While the camera bump itself is circular like it's always been in the Ultra line"...
Remember 11 Ultra? It had a rectangular camera area.

I'll stick with my 14 ultra

the reason why the camera placement is like this is because the telephoto module (the top camera) is huge

Reminds me of spider eyes, pretty cool surveillance tool.

This design probably won't go through

I don't care what the folks say here and there, I always have been an avid fan of designs with weird twists and I love this one though kind of agree on the comments that say Xiaomi should work with a team like of Huawei's to actually spice up its design language. Yet, even though this design totally appeals to me, I have to see how this beauty performs in real life in terms of camera, display and speed. (especially thinking vivo X200 Ultra must be also very competitive)

Anonymous, 24 Oct 2024I swear with each passing year, the back camera rearrangeme... moreYou see. Brands want to make their brand image. They want to make it so that their phone gets recognised easily, just like how you can easily tell what's a Samsung or an iPhone. Xiaomi's square photo set looks an awful lot like an iPhone's. It happened to me several times when someone assumed I have an iPhone when I have a Xiaomi. That's why they try to be unique and find something that works to stick with.

First impression is that it looks insectoid, or like a spider's eyes. Probably not a good feeling to elicit from a marketing perspective
