Exynos 1580 unveiled with Cortex-A720 cores, double the GPU hardware

24 October 2024
It uses ARMv9 cores, so A720 and A520 instead of A78 and A55. Also, the RDNA 3 GPU has two Work Group Processors, though performance hasn't doubled.

This is an earlier release date than the 1380 and 1480.
Is this a sign that a Tab S10 FE with a 1580 chip will be released?

Most comments seem to be 9 year old kids who only care about pubg performance 🤣

Pubg is 7 years old, any phone can play it or just play it on pc or console much better and it's free too.

              4x A720 + 4x A520 matches 7s Gen 3 and should perform slightly behind Dimensity 8300 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 (older A715+A510 but with higher freq. )
So it's certainly less powerful than 7+ or 8s, but not too bad for a mid-ranger.

What did I saw... considering that the A16 has 2 processors variants, I expect...

                    - A56 - Exynos 1580. No variants this time.
                    - A36 - The Exynos version will be 1480, but SD one is 7s Gen 2, for the US market. Also used on the M36 series.
                    - A26 - Likely uses the E1380. If uses the SD 6 Gen 3 is just for the US market too, also used for the M26

"First the images state SPECULATIVE DESIGN however as you can see from the comments time and time again some are treating this as if if were OFFICIALLY put out by Samsung themselves.

The Geekbench score is most likely fabricated, anything 4 or 5 months before release without exception usually is. Samsung can run benchmark in private

                        The A35 is CPU Octa-core (4x2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A55)
                        GPU Mali-G68 MP5

On the suggested Qualcomm SoC for the A36, this may be a false conclusion based on the A35's 4+4 configuration hence assumption Qualcomm
The A34 and A33 were both 2+6 configuration (BOTH GPU Mali)*** the A36 could / should upgrade to Exynos 1480 as why pay Qualcomm for a SoC you already own.

***A quick looksee same applies to A32 & A31, Samsung have NOT used Qualcomm for the A3* only Exynos and Mediatek SoC."

It now seem to next years A36 will become be more or less this years A55 with possible adjustments to memory configuration but Exynos 1480 for reasons above
The A54 / S23 FE and A55 / S24 FE are not interchangeable or either or options
The FE range is a class in itself with only one model

So yes there will be a price where the an older FE drops to that make it better to buy it than the current A5 model, however at the same the older A5 will have also dropped

With no specs for the A56 yet out, in March 2025 whether an "upgrade" to the S24 FE is an alternative so better spec option.

I wish Exynos was a success for Samsung. I love when companies do all their things in-house, it's why I generally like Samsung. Their SSD's, entirely designed in-house. Their NAND chips, their controllers, their firmware, they are in full control of all of it and Samsung has been the king of SSD's for a long while because of it. Don't get me wrong, Crucial for example has their own NAND and they use controllers made by someone else and make incredibly reliable SSD's, but they for sure don't have as much control over it as Samsung does.

It's the same with phones. If Samsung has to use Snapdragon chipsets, they have to use their features, their hardware, their approach to something. With Exynos, Samsung can custom tailor all of it just like Apple is doing with their chipsets and it's showing because they can make much tighter and direct interaction between software and hardware. It's why I hope their phones will use Exynos as the default and they'll be hard competition against Qualcomm. Samsung still isn't quite there yet, but they are pretty close which is good for us consumers.

Idk if they rebrand Exynos 2100 and give it to midrange.
I wanna see them making A5xs with better looking display, at least with symmetrical bezels and 10 bit color depth and faster charging.

why does it says 4k 6fps for both 1480 and 1580? the a55 as far as i know cant handle 4k 60fps. and thats a shame!

The Exynos 1580 does sound promising but Samsung better make this 1580 support 90fps in PUBG and call of duty
