s series used to compete with iphone pros a few years ago. since, samsung stopped upgrading s series for the last 3 years, they became so weak that, can barely compete with vanilla iphones.

MadMike, 13 Nov 2024Well, your initial comment mostly focused on the hardware d... moreMost people say that iPhones take better photos and videos, and I'll agree to an extent that photos and videos from my 13 Pro Max look more natural than my S24, which colors look a bit more saturated. But I think this one is highly subjective, as some users prefer photos with more pop in the colors. Another feature that I didn't mention before which all Samsungs have now is the dual app feature, which allows you to have multiple social media or messenger accounts, ie. Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, Viber, Instagram, etc. This is yet another feature that some might find handy, but yeah, many people won't utilize it. I also didn't mention the virtual navigation bar, which is why many people don't like iPhones at all. Being able to press the back button to go back to the previous activity, or simply pressing the home button to get back to the home screen with ease. Gestures are okay, but it's much slower than pressing a home or back button. Yet, another feature that I didn't mention that iPhones lack is the split screen feature, which enables you to open up 2 apps simultaneously in split screen mode. Multi-tasking is much easier on a Samsung and people seeking productivity will get things done much faster on a Samsung than on an iPhone. I still have an old S20 Ultra, and I use that more often than my 13 Pro Max, which I only use because my car is configured for a lightning cable connection. Aside from that, the versatility of Samsung phones is unmatched, especially the Flagships. You get more for your money also, as opposed to iPhones, where you will pay more money, and yet you get less features. I will say this for iPhones, they don't depreciate as much as Samsung phones and they tend to last a lot longer, which could be the reason they're priced so high. You made some very valid points, and I and many of my friends have iPhones. The main difference is that they use them as their daily drivers while I use my S24. We'll have to agree to disagree about the S24 not being a flagship though, because it has all the features that a Flagship should have. I really love these debates, and this is one that will last for generations as these are the top 2 phone manufacturers. What do you think about the Google Pixel?

Anonymous, 13 Nov 2024Not joking at all. People who like iPhones like them for th... moreWell, your initial comment mostly focused on the hardware difference. I find iOS pretty limiting (but it's getting better with 18.x), which is why I've been in the Android camp for a long while as well; however, whoever goes the iOS route knows what to expect, so I won't even take that into account.
Some of the points that you said I didn't address are a non issue for 99.9% of the users, including myself:
- 60hz on the iPhone: this one is pretty crappy, but I've admitted that in my initial reply
- cameras: the iPhone has a much better primary and wide cameras, which is what you'll use most of the time; it's so much better that if you digitally zoom, you get similar results to Samsung's 3x optical zoom. So having that third hardware camera just becomes a gimmick at this point, at least on the S24 and S24+.
- phone colors are subjective
- no fingerprint scanner, but you get a way more reliable face unlock, which you don't on the s24
- USB 2.0 - yeah, it's lame. But honestly speaking, when was the last time you transferred any data via cable? In real life this is a non issue. Still lame though.
- always on display - do people actually use that? I only know one person at work that uses it...
- notch - not great, not terrible. I do think that the s24 has a better design overall
- reverse wireless charging - one of those features that 99% of people will never use or know their phones can do. Could be handy in exceptional situations, but I definitely won't pick one phone over the other based on this feature.
I think I've covered everything you mentioned now :)
In any case, my point was not necessarily that the iPhone 16 is a better phone than the s24, it's that comparing the two is fair. Neither are flagships.
If you compare the iPhone 16 pro with the s24, the 16 pro is clearly the winner there - much better hardware overall, but they are in different price tiers.

The base model iPhone is not a flagship device, it's an overpriced high end midrange phone, more comparable to an S23 Fe or an A55. It's a great phone, but it's not a flagship. Only the Pro Models are true flagships.

MadMike, 12 Nov 2024You must be joking... Except the high refresh rate of the d... moreNot joking at all. People who like iPhones like them for their reliability, ease of use and the optimized operating system. Face it, IOS is boring as are iPhones in general. I own an iPhone 13 Pro Max and an iPhone 14 as my work phone. I now use the Samsung S24. I've used both Apple devices and Samsung for the longest time and there is really no comparison. Most iPhone users are not very tech savy, which is why they prefer boring IOS which has very few customization options. If I wanted to, I could literally make my S24 skin look exactly like an iPhone. However, you couldn't do the opposite with an iPhone. And I don't know what you're referring to by saying that a previous gen iPhone runs faster than any current S24 series phone. Even if that were the case (which it's not) you wouldn't notice a significant difference in day to day use, especially if there is only a 1 year difference in the SOC being used. I'm not trying to hate on Apple, because I also use Apple devices, but to sit there and pretend like they can compete with flagship Samsung devices is laughable. I literally just named several features that the base iPhone is lacking, and even the Pro Models lack some of those features. You still haven't addressed that, which you should, especially if you think iPhones are better.

Anonymous, 12 Nov 2024They were comparing the Samsung S24 to the base model iPhon... moreYour speaking straight up facts brother. I think iphone users need to grow up or higher their knowledge on phones because all the comments from iPhone glazers that I read, give me the feeling they try to defend something wich they know isn't better or can't be defended. A useless phone war because samsung just developed way more and offers way more.

pl2rts, 11 Nov 2024iPhone 15 be ok to compare with S24 as the Apple release ph... moreThey are obviously comparing what are available right now. And I'd bet some time after the release of the 25 series a similar article pops up comparing the iPhone 16 to the base 25. At which point the Apple crowd will likely scream foul claiming the iPhone 17 would be a better match to 25. Then rinse and repeat this scenario every year, well until Samsung and Apple decide to synchronise their product release cycle's that is. Spoiler alert, don't expect that to happen anytime soon....
My take on these kind of article's is they are not meant to be definitive. Neither are they aimed at the regular reader of this site, many of who have long decided which side they are on. Rather, these article's can be of some use to those not so clued up, and who may be in the market for an upgrade, and would like some pointers in deciding between two of the most popular devices available right now🤷♂️

Anonymous, 12 Nov 2024They were comparing the Samsung S24 to the base model iPhon... moreYou must be joking... Except the high refresh rate of the display, the S24 is worse in all aspects.
The base S series have not been flagships in a looong while. When was the last time the camera modules actually got an update? 3 years!?
The fact that an older chipset from Apple is still more powerful than the current gen flagship is more than enough to justify the comparison between the two models. The 16 pro is in another league.
And this is coming from a current Samsung (s23) user.
There's just no viable flagship option in the Android space if you don't want a phone the size of a ping pong palette and a decent camera and processor... probably just the Pixel 9 pro, but the processor is pretty bad.

They were comparing the Samsung S24 to the base model iPhone 16. Its a ridiculous comparison. I understand that many are just Crapple Sheep and basically buy the same phone every year with only an improved chip. The advantage is the S24, because its actually a flagship that has almost all the same features as the S24 Ultra, except the camera and memory capacity and form factor. The base model iPhone 16 has the basic A18 chip while the pro model has the A18 pro chip. The S24 has the same chip as the S24 ultra, which I think most people would agree is better than any base model Iphone. The base model Iphone 16 only has a 60Hz display, while the S24 has a dynamic 120 Hz LTPO display. For those of you who don't know anything about phones, an LTPO display allows the screen to automatically refresh to a lower or higher frequency, depending on what activity is being performed on the phone. Crapple only has this on the Pro Models, not the base Model iPhone. Oh and don't even get me started on the camera. True flagships have a telephoto lens, and while the S24 has one, the iPhone 16 does not. Also, the color options for the iPhone 16 are lame! No fingerprint scanner, no USB C 3.2, only 2.0. No reverse wireless charging, no always on display, a huge ridiculous looking notch (dynamic island). I could go on, but its a moot point because some people only see what they want to see, especially iSheep hipsters. A more fair comparison would be the S24 Vs the Iphone 15 or 16 Pro models, and even then, its still advantage S24.

I don't like iOS for a good number of reasons, one being not able to select Bangladesh as official region and no support for any BD payment methods for app purchases etc.

They should do another one of these between the S24 Ultra vs the iPhone 16 Pro Max and compare the spec differences between both comparisons
