And why even bother with a 2x telephoto? A 3x telephoto, even with this sensor, could have been excused, but a 2x telephoto with such a small sensor is an absolute no-go! If reducing budget was the goal, they could have kept the 1/1.3" main sensor and totally done away with this 2x telephoto. Regular photos would have been much better and even 2x photos wouldn't have been much dissimilar.

But I guess they wanted to tick the 'telephoto' box so that they could fool the unsuspecting customer.

This is not a flagship phone with mid-range cameras. This is a mid-range phone with a flagship processor.

The S20 Ultra was marketed to be the best phone of all time and it was a disappointment. Don't just take marketing stuff for granted, wait for reviews and judge for yourself, im saying this due to the "best display" thing you said.

    My point was that the IQOO 12 was amazing and they downgraded it, i don't get why you're not seeing the huge downgrade in cameras. And they're claiming to be great for gamers but until proper thermal/stress tests we can't be sure. You're taking every marketing claim at face value.

      Still using (and typing this comment) iqoo 12. After i see iqoo 13, im glad i still using the 12. Camera setup is very good especially periscope, and it's still 8 gen 3. Playing ZZZ for 1 hours (even my rog phone 7 8gen2) without breaking sweat. Curved display means difficult to find tempered glass screen protector.

        It seems like you missing the whole point of iqoo flagship series.
        Why would they give better cam set up on their previous iqoo 12 than the vivo x100 series?
        Their product manager is already stated that they want to make their flagship series capable of heay gaming use by gaming hardcore fans while also can appeals casual users
        They don't want to be a one-trick pony but rather be an all around flagship that can be used by everyone

You're buying a gaming phone for gaming, with bigger battery you get longer gaming sessions, i don't see why they COULDN'T do it.

They don't want their phones to be too heavy (iqoo 13 literally weight about 213 in glass version and 207g) and being thin at the same time (7.99mm) so they use smaller capacity double cell battery to get that 120W charging speed. Realme GT7pro shows that they have the capability to do so but sacrifice the feels(6500 weighting 22x+, 8.5mm thick).

The camera quality and camera processing that cur... moreIt's been said many times that they did it because the previous iqoo 12 has better cam than the Vivo x100 one which supposed to be the one that has better cam. Now they used the same main sensor and algorithm from vivo x200 except for the telephoto.
              Even then, there are still many features that this phone had compared to x200
              -ultrasonic fingerprint instead of optical
              -higher quality of screen (I'm not only talking about resolution, but the colors management, accuracy, brightness, its much more better than x200 or xiaomi 15)
              -higher quality of motor (1060H is much more responsive, better feedback)
              -Better super resolution (up to 2K compared with 900p from xiaomi 15), and frame interpolation (144fps)
              -Higher battery capacity and faster charging
              -faster memory 9600 and ufs 4.1 (ota)
              Etc.
              There are better things that iqoo has than find x,vivo x,or xiaomi 15 if you are too focused on camera you could buy those camera phone. But if you are a hard gaming core fan this one is easily fit your requirements while also have a decent camera (4K on every cam too)

Yes the camera system is unfortunately downgraded compare to iQOO 12 but it's more than enough for casual photography and some people might won't even use a lot of features in the camera. It is better if they prefer performance-centric phone. What I like about iQOO is that their design aesthetic is simplistic compared to the aggressive styling of the ROG/Redmagic phones.

One will need a much more expensive dedicated camera with multiple lenses and hours of post processing to get anything better than a flagship smartphone. Not to forget the ease of use and portability that comes with smartphones. Unless you are a professional photographer, there is absolutely 0 reason to get a dedicated camera over a Flagship Smartphone. You can find comparisons of Find X7 Ultra vs Dedicated cameras.                       And this is not a gaming Phone. It has the same 8 Elite chip and 0 Gaming features as any other Flagship Smartphone like Xiaomi 15, Oppo Find x8, Honor Magic 7.
                      If it had any gaming phone features like trigger buttons, dual type c port, an overclocked + version of 8 Elite with dedicated cooling etc like Asus ROG or Lenovo Legion, Red Magic, Blackshark etc series then it would have made sense. This doesn't even have a display port out through Type c port that usually all gaming smartphones have.

                      There top festure is Led lighting on the back, lol. They have made a garbage flagship device with low mid range cameras at 50$ cheaper than other Flagship device.

                      Only a bra!nle$$ !d!0t will buy this over other 8 elite flagship devices to save 50$.

                          I don't care about how rubbish the cameras are and I could just solve the problem by buying a conventional camera.

                            RGB lights at the end of 2024 on the back? No use. Just gimmicks. Back then we had notification lights tiny but useful on the front top of the display. Better if they have used a secondary display on the back it could have been useful but alas smartphone these days are boring slabs devoid of smart features and full of gimmicks.

                              Absolutely horrible. Looks like Iqoo was sacrificed just to boost Vivo X200 series sales.
                              Main camera downgraded to Mindrange level.

                              Telephoto camera massively downgraded. 2x 1/2.9in sensor. 0.6úm. This is a Front Camera sensor. This is now worse than mid-rangers like Honor 200, Vivo V40, Realme 13 Pro+, Redmi Note 14 Pro+. Honor 200 has this Sensor as Front Camera.

                              Buying a phone at Price of Flagship (even if 50-100$ cheaper than other flagships) and getting Cameras worse than Midrangers is so ridiculous. Makes no sense to buy this instead of Vivo X200, Oppo Find X8 at 30$ price difference for 512gb. Same for Honor Magic 7 and Xiaomi 15, 40$ difference for 512GB.

                              If they had Priced this 200$ lower than other flagships then it would have made sense considering phones costing less than half of this has better cameras.

                                Regarding Si/C battery tech doesn't seem to be as good per mah compared to Li-ion/Li-poly.

                                We don't know if that's because of software optimisation
