My good wife who still owns possibly one of the last high end Motorola v9 Maxx clamshell phones and loves the thing, however its long in the tooth and sadly giving up the ghost.
Unfortunately, she never stops complaining about the current generation of high end smartphones, at least in their present physical form,
Having said that she would jump at this Samsung high end clamshell smartphone if it became a reality.
so come on Samsung make it a reality, and no doubt there would be countless others out there wanting the same thing. I've spoken to the Telcos here in Australia many times and they all agree, thats whats missing in the lineup of high end smartphones.

Of course we (as europeans) want this! The pad shape bores a lot of people, plus all the smartphones started to look alike too much.... This could be a breath of fresh air, especially for the clamshell phones users. Remember V3? :) And this...this is stylish and has that "something else" that many of us would buy and want. Specs are good too so give it a GO to Europe Samsung! As a small businessman I would definitely buy one :)

It'll be fine, so long as you can detach the top half and use it as a bar phone, like most current smartphones, and it would have to be relatively thin, and the bottom half could enhance battery life.

Eh. Lol. Funny design. This is just another plastic crap from a company who cheats the loyal users, Samsung. Such a dumb phone. It's not 90's. Wake up.

Flip Android phone is not a new stuff from Samsung. They are 2 models already existed in China market, the W999 and W2013. Both devices targeted high end rich buyer.

I like this design. It looks like this isn't Samsung's first phone of this type. The W999, according to the information on this site, came out back in December 2011.

Real physical buttons just seem better overall than an overall touchscreen design. In fact, I've been hoping they'd not only come out with a design like this, but also an android phone with an alphanumerical keypad like this on the outside, and a full qwerty keyboard on the inside, similar to many other Samsungs of the past, such as the Array, Intensity III, Gravity TXT, Evergreen, Profile, Messenger III, etc. Phones such as the Galaxy Smart all have the qwerty on the inside, but no alphanumeric keypad on the outside. I realize such a phone would only accommodate a niche market, but don't all of them, to some extent? The Galaxy Golden certainly would.

It's a matter of personal taste, but I totally dig this thing. For a long time now, I've only imagined an Android flip-phone. It's great to know I'll live to use it myself :)

Graz, 04 Aug 2013I really like it! I kind of wish the camera was on the top ... moreI would like secondary display to be smaller as you say just as a monitor screen showing time/date/tweets/emails etc. If this sells they will make more and then other companys will follow and bring some different form factors in this boring slab monoblock phones world.

I have been waiting for a clamshell smart phone for long time now. Finally, Samsung took the guts to make it out. Let's see how this phone will do.

I really like it! I kind of wish the camera was on the top half and the secondary display made a bit smaller, as you won't be using that one so much, but I still think it's great. No more problems with wearing big gloves and using the touchscreen in the winter.
