    The optical ones from the pixel 8 and earlier are from Goodix, the non flagship Samsung phones uses Goodix ones. The pixel 9 series and Galaxy S10 to S24 uses the one from Qualcomm.

          SD Cardigan, 31 Oct 2024Couldn't find a lot of info... starting with the six t... moredid some digging and WekiHome, a Chinese youtuber, has done teardowns. The S24 Ultra uses a Qualcomm scanner but surprisingly even the X100 Ultra used a Goodix scanner!

          The Goodix scanner uses a different solution compared to Qualcomm, a rough translation from chinese to english says that the Qualcomm one was a TFT route/solution and Goodix uses a "silicon based" route. The Goodix one is indeed slow but only by 33 ms and even on the slow mo shots it felt like they were the same so i'd say it's good enough!

                  Samsung and Google used the Goodix sensor????? Didn't Qualcomm make some twitter post or something about Google's Pixels having new fingerprint scanners? This is some interesting info.

                        I think iQOO was one of the first to use the Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max I think it was called under display fingerprint reader which was wide enough for two thumbs side by side to do your biometric authentication, not sure why that's been abandoned and why more companies didn't use it. Could be cost related or they proved to be problematic after a while.

                          Seems like Qualcomm never perfected their solution and now Goodix is supplying everyone with ultrasonic readers.
