Anonymous, 06 Nov 2024You didn't read the article properly. Let me explain ... more"Specifically, the Commission is concerned about three things. The first is requiring that smartphone makers buy all or nearly all of their glass from Corning. If they do, Corning will offer them rebates. And finally, makers are expected to tell Corning if a competitor makes a better offer and give Corning the opportunity to match it."

That is litteraly bulk purchase discounts and price matching. Very common in every sector. If I wanted to buy a Samsung phone for a business it would cost me 150, if I bought 200 it would cost me 120 a peice (as an example). That's not anti competitive, that's just a bulk purchase. Doing it through rebates is sketchy though.

I don't think that there is any reinforced/tempered glass for mobile devices in the market that can be scratch-proof to mohs scale 7, sapphire crystal is resistant to impacts but still scratches like gorilla glass 5 or higher.

For me to see you never heard about laws then 🙄

Good thing Chinese brands are starting their own hard glass. Corning got some things to work on.

                      Riddle me this EU?

Which comoetitor has the experience and collaboration, and can actually compete toe to toe with Corning?

FYI kiddoes Corning Inc's 1st foray with glass was an exclusive contrsct woth the USA MILITARY for creating missle nose cones that will trigger detonation upon imoact of a target yet NOT detonate a missle DURING flight (self detonation).

                      Anybody with a legitate answer!

"Don't stop me now" is what the EU people from the competition authority have always in mind. Love them.

Anonymous, 06 Nov 2024It is lie. Almost all moto G from 2023 had gorilla 3. ... moreThere are lots of glass makers, and if you see Jerry's videos, almost all of them start scratching at level 6, so the quality is more or less the same, only that the G G is the most popular
It's TBH an average product, not substantially better than it's rivals. And of course, glass is glass and it breaks. Then what makes the G G so special ? The way they market and sell it, and that's the reason they are being investigated currently

And yet nsa survives with spying on all technology. Which will be even stronger now with the trumpet back.

No glass made by Corning, Longjing, Dragontail etc is better than glass used in Vertu phones.
They are not even on par nor close.
Vertu shapphire screens rules them all.
