Renato Russo, 07 Nov 2024I'm completely ignorant about this stuff, but I often ... moreYou don't need what happens in the background. Optimisation can be seen with respect to how efficient it performs. Take Battery life per battery size and compare with android. Or Take performance per watts and compare with android. Numbers are out here on GSMARENA as well and everyone can access it. Apple does better here and thus you can see it is well optimised.

PS: Apple iPhone with 4700mah can give you 11h+ SOT compared to 5000 or 6000mah android phones that gives you 7-9h SOT depending on manufacturer. Thus Apple has better efficiency and can be said well optimised.

Aren't they actually did? Their A18 Pro finally able to beat the 8 Gen 3 a bit.

Now THATS what you call a banger of a quarter!

From $1.3 Billion last quarter oof dividend buy backs to $15B is a ENORMOUS vote of confidence 👏

I wish i felt that good about my ex still being in love eith me snd getting back together. But im an old romantic sap.

Renato Russo, 07 Nov 2024I'm completely ignorant about this stuff, but I often ... moreI can give you a general example, even though I don't know all of the specifics as it comes to Apple. A lot of space (and therefore power consumption) on a chip go to things that may not matter to most consumers (think of AVX-512 support on desktop CPUs). Similarly, many functions that are utilized may be underdeveloped. By controlling the entire stack, Apple can strip out unneeded silicon (such as by removing 32 bit support) and further optimize features like media decoding for low power consumption.

Can you explain how is that supposed to work? What sort of specific stuff can run better because of their self designed chips?

I don't think they will have one anytime soon.

cause of optimization from making the chip yourself and last year the a17 pro was actually cheaper than the 8 gen2..
why would apple use an extremely inferior 2 year chipset that would require more research and development to actually optimize for ios
