I hope they're reviewing the global version as most of us will only ever have the chance to buy this one. We all know chinese ROMs can sometimes provide a very different experience.
I can see that the charger is EU type from the image but there's no google dialer in site which makes it somewhat confusing.

So far the OnePlus 13 seems to be the only one of these similar phones that will have this! I prefer the Oppo for the center placement of the cameras on the back but I will go with the OnePlus for the better band support!

If you leave th... moreYes, you're right about this, if you live in a small village lost in the mountains where only B20 reaches, it's obviously essential. But consider that for example, Iliad in Italy covers 98% of the territory and doesn't have B20, this is to say that even rural areas are now covered by other bands, if you end up there twice a year and your phone doesn't support B20, it will find something else.

With a few repeaters they cover kilometers, on average the other bands, even if they are faster, have quite a lower range. For an operator it is more convenient to use those repeaters in open areas, as only a few are needed, the investment is lower.

In cities it rarely matters in my home country but makes a big difference in rural areas with poor coverage. Downloaded the apk you mention. Very useful, thanks. Will try it next time I'm back home

During the launch of their new phones, literally all social media will be filled with all the pretentious creators simping the phone, while you know literally the same creators wouldn't care one bit after a month or so and go back to their iPhone. The fakery is so predictable that it's just annoying.

Aierlan, 13 Nov 2024Yeah. No band 20 on the Chinese version for sure. Last year... moreThere is an app called "network cell info" that shows you the band your phone is connected to, and the others available, and I assure you that even indoors the most recent phones almost never connect to band 20, and in any case there are always others available, try it.

in reality, consulting the official Oppo website since yesterday, there is already talk of new products for November 21st, but only x8 pro is mentioned - Oppo x8 among other things does not have the 4G B20 band. When that band doesn't appear during the presentation in China, it's a smartphone that is unlikely to arrive in the rest of the world

Price will be competitive enough. In China these days there is practically no difference in pricing between OPPO, VIVO and Xiaomi for their flagship series. Actually last year OPPO was the cheapest of the 3. I reckon globally there is a good chance it will be the cheapest of the 3 major Chinese brands this year also. Xiaomi started at €1000 last year for the Xiaomi 14 so €900 would be a pretty decent price for the find x8. If it starts at €1000 then it's too expensive

Obviously the global model will have it though. Really wanted to get this but I need the Chinese variant and the lack of band 20 turned me off. I think they've done a good job optimizing the cameras

I really like this Find X8, hardware, size, body, it's a shame that from the specifications it doesn't seem to support B20 band (800 Mhz).

Actually, this piqued my interest. It finally goes below 200g for weight, and dimensions are smaller as well. Not bad at all. But Oppo's pricing will definitely make this extremely unattractive. And their push marketing through sponsored ambassadors are really annoying (because we know those people use iPhones/Samsung irl).

I've already bought a 16gb 512gb OnePlus 13 for £566 during black Friday sale. So I will soon own a Snapdragon 8 Elite phone! 😀

Souzazs, 12 Nov 2024I bet the price of the global version in Europe will be 800... moreHell, they could've put the LYT-818. I know it's a custom order for Vivo, but why wouldn't you ask for such a sensor yourself? A $700+ phone shouldn't have anything less than a 1/1.3"-type sensor.
