Samsung will drop pre-loaded AR apps from Camera in One UI 7

13 November 2024
They will be standalone apps that can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store.

Good! Nobody EVER uses this junk!

    Finaly a good start.
Whole samsung phones could start as a pure android experience with UI and Samsung apps as optional.
Same could do other manufacturers even Apple.
No app should be mandatory but all should be optional.

I don't even like or use any of these now-separate apps, but I do want to note that they will, after this move, effectively be locked behind a samsung account wall, which they were not before. That is, they used to come with the purchase of the phone, but since now (since recently) the galaxy store requires a Samsung account to download new apps, this means now effectively if you want any of these apps you will need to create and use a Samsung account, which you didn't need to before.

This update better not brick my Z6 like the One UI 6.1 update did to my Z4. In fact, I'll probably hold off on the update until the Z7 comes out.

Not a big deal. If they aren't installed automatically I won't install them. But if they appear in app drawer I will put them in a folder and forget about it.

Good. Nobody uses them anyway, better save the space.

I fully approve this if they unlock the ability to actually uninstall these old versions.

Yup, they're going to hide those behind a subscription service. 100%
