It's the same old story with MZ, Life imitated art Edge of Tomorrow, or the more apt Boss Level Roy Pulver looking for the bug, MZ its DATA HARVESTING.

"The EC also says Meta is unilaterally imposing unfair trading conditions on other classified ads providers who advertise on its platforms, which allows Meta to use ads-related data generated by other advertisers "for the sole benefit of Facebook Marketplace".

At this rate, EU will only be left with Huawei phones and Weibo as their sole social media platform. Seems like they need all the cash they can get through fines to try and fix the giant dumpster fire of problems that are themselves.

Call me crazy but I think the EU is abusing their "fine" power, They have not issued this many of them before the... well you know.. I think they are only doing it now because their finances are down by quite a bit.

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2024You definitely aren't wiser than EC
It was the righ... moreWake up? Followed by a "🤡" emoji? You're goofy.
No one is wiser than big corporations. If they were, then they would have their own corporation.
First, it was indeed a "right" decision to act to these greedy corporations. Business is business, they care for their customers because without us, they don't even operate very well. However, it would be a different case if someone's information got leaked and they did nothing about it since one customer does not make them go bankrupt. If only you know and have the things to win back the loss you got in order for them to take action then it would be you that would be thankful.
Second, please read the topic above, they're taking about "other" people using their own cash to pay Meta to advertise they're own sales DOMINATING other online shopping applications. This is not even an option on other online apps where they pay the publisher of that specific app to advertise their items for quicker sales. Meta is indeed taking advantage of this feature and on a social media app as well.
But still, it will not change the fact that you can disable the Marketplace shortcut on the app and it's not their fault you get tempted to buy that item from an advertisement. This just means you're becoming an NPC.

It was the righ... moreLook at you talking with a device made by some of these evil corporations while having so much faith behind a politician—hypocrite much, eh? Hey, at least I'm not using any of META products and services if that makes you feel better. I'm not the biggest fan of politics, politicians, and corporations myself, just as much as corporate greed and overreaching regulations. And here you are thinking these politicians care about you, oh boy.
I'm just waiting for EC to finally go after ARM Holdings for the ARM architecture monopoly since they had no issue going after Corning for monopolizing glass in smartphones. If they plan to flex their muscles, let them flex evenly to all. Go get 'em, Tiger! 🐯
Let's wake up together, shall we?

Jokes aside, it is indeed problematic that the EU is now forced to parent Americans, because Americans can't figure their own things out any longer. Good luck with the next four years, having people like Gaetz, Musk and RFK Jr "running" your things.

It was the right decision to act against these evil corporations
Because they only care about their money and the profit they make by constantly bombarding it's users with ad and selling their data.
They don't care about you, your family, your data and rights, your well being or mental health, remember. They're here for THEIR money, because they are after all American capitalist corporations, and they will make money out of you as long as you use their products and services
Wake up 🤡

Facebook was fun till 2010 when it was about adding friends, sharing photos and some chatting. Things were simple
And then they rapidly started changing, they want to overhaul the UI like every six months, and they were trying to add every new feature from other apps. It became confusing and fb was not the same anymore. They then introduced apps for FB and messenger which were massive battery suckers.
Not just that, FB even tried to replace the messaging app on phones with their own. Like, WTF are they doing ?
If all that wasn't enough, FB deteriorated it further by placing ads on every video, and then the marketplace arrived, and it was something totally unwanted. Like, calm down FB!! this site is meant to be for pleasure, not for you to turn it into business with ads everywhere
And again like I said, the constant reshuffling of user interface etc
All of that made FB very chaotic to use, to the point it was unusable. One day I just deleted the apps and the account
