In that case, I guess its clear it doesn't provide the huge perceivable boost, its more like a marketing point for now. After all, machines evolve, humans may.. but not this fast.

Anonymous, 21 Nov 2024There's a huge difference between 60 and 120 and there... moreIn slow action, even 60 and 120Hz seem the same. I think the answer lies in, how fast the action on screen is, that's when you notice.
In the fastest of actions in gaming world, I suspect 480Hz will actually matter. Maybe a new generation of games might need to be created to utilise from this, although I suspect the human response will be heavily challenged beyond a point, and we might see health issues even in the youth.

BrianCoriour, 19 Nov 2024I saw a vid on a 500hz monitor and its just useless. You do... moreVideo is not exactly a benchmark, unless you're seeing a 500 fps video which is highly unlikely. Gaming is.
Watching a 24 or even 60 fps video doesn't create any difference on 120, 240 or 480Hz display, except in terms of response.

Between 240 and 480 I've never seen it so I can't really comment on it, but it maybe be useless as you say.

I saw a vid on a 500hz monitor and its just useless. You dont notice anything after 240hz. Your perception is not fast enough to see and notice the difference. Plus your reaction time is also not fast enough to where 240hz for you lags from your eyes from how fast you are.

Considering that anything OLED anyways costs $1000+, this is indeed a bomb deal!
Its like almost nothing was charged for the boost to 480Hz.
Good going LG (if the monitor is actually good in ownership).

HyperionBurn, 18 Nov 2024we can hit these frame rates even with a 4060 with 1440p dl... moreWhy would you want to use frame generation to hit this when it increases latency? The whole point of having these crazy high refresh rates is to have as low latency as possible.
