Anonymous, 20 Nov 2024Google PURE android have battery problem. Back in the day ... moreNot really. Had Pixel 5 with Snapdragon and excelled at battery life. No, it's not pure Android at fault, I should say.

Foldy boi, 19 Nov 2024That's because we can just install linux on it and it ... moreWell it depends on the architecture. If it uses an x86 processor and cheaper than average Windows laptop with the same spec, then count me in (assuming they don't lock the bootloader, so I can just install Linux on it).
If it runs on ARM, then idk. I don't think I want to run double emulation (Windows x86 to Linux x86, then Linux x86 to Linux ARM), since it takes to much resources, similar to that one Windows game emulation on MacBook with M-chip.

Back in the day of Nexus, I owned both of LG Nexus 4 & Sony Experia Z.
Same CPU, Snapdragon S4, different battery story.

Later on, I owned Mi A1 with PURE android, and other Xiaomi with MiUI
Same problem. The Google PURE android is drinking water like octoberfest

Also, if "premium build" is coded language for OLED, do your eyeballs a favor and NO GET.

You don't want to spend over a thousand bucks just to get blurry, teary eyed vision every day.

Android? GTFOH. "Hi grandkid! I'm voicecalling you from my laptop do you believe it hyuk hyuk hyuk! Look I can install Instagram from the Play Store. We are living in the FUTURE!!"

The only way I buy is if it runs Linux with FULL peripheral support. No chroot, no dual boot. Otherwise put this junk in the Google Graveyard already, next to Reader, Podcasts, and the Chromecast.

I imagine it'll come with some sort of Tensor ARM chip, so while there may be AI features, Linux compatibility will suffer compared to x86 Chromebooks.

Can't wait to buy this in a year on discount for 25% its original price.

These things tend to run Debian just fine once Google gives up on them. The displays are top notch with 2x scaling.
