                Imagine if the OS wasn't restricted like the good old days. XDA would ruin their business.

Google has repeatedly advertised it as 7 years of OS, security and feature drop updates, and their disclaimer only says that this 7 years starts from the moment the phone is available on the Pixel Store in the US. I've checked to make sure, and they don't count this as 7 updates, but rather updates over 7 years. There's no reason to believe that it's got anything to do with update amounts.

And pushes people to buy a new 5G phone. And I think, that will make such an e-waste. But not as bad as in Australia. That is such an extreme.

                              they are rushing these android versions for not only reducing pixel phone update cycle but also makes 3rd party apps to move to newer android versions.It wont be unusual if whatsapp for example only supported on android 11 if we continue on this cycle.It will create mega ewaste after some time,just like what Australia did to 3G phones.

                                        DashF, 6 hours agoMy most favourite feature was when they locked android/data... moreNah, they won't lock the settings app, they will remove all the settings of the other apps and put a few of them into the central settings app like iOS. You will have to change camera resolution via settings app.
                                        I wouldn't be surprised if they did this.
