The real purpose of these is for some corporations to limit access for their employees. Kind of like corporate slavery and they buy these overpriced junkboxes instead of a real pc just to satisfy their ego.

so $350 for a box that is not a very good thin client and then the yearly subscription cost for 365 and then because it's all held in a data centre when that goes down it's becomes just a box of e-waste. as for security, well ms have had their fair share of unwanted visitors along with apple and many other companies.

yjfoeg, 20 Nov 2024$350 is far too expensive... One thing you're forgetting here is this is a cloud service with no actual subscription cost. Just a one-time cost for the hardware. That has a lot of value, I think.

yjfoeg, 20 Nov 2024$350 is far too expensive... We are paying $710 for Lenovo M75s Gen5 AMD desktops to do the same thing. Seems to be a bargain if the users are just using Office apps.

I really hope this doesn't portend a future where home users are similarly forced to use thin clients and pay for subscriptions to operating systems.
