Akthanakos, 2 hours agoAccording to a weibo post by Thomas Wang(redmi's presi... moreI think he was bluffing. He also said the camera hardware setup was not worse than the Oneplus 13. Himself and Lu Weibing often use these marketing tactics to make the price seem wonderful when it's a lot lower than what they indicated. I also saw him reply later to an individual on Weibo (just about an hour ago) saying it would have a small increase. No company so far has increased their base model by more than 300rmb and Xiaomi themselves increased the Xiaomi 15 by 200rmb and the Xiaomi 15 pro by 300rmb so more than 300rmb would be pushing it. Would be surprised if it's more than 3,599rmb. They also won't want it to be more expensive than the Realme gt7 pro I think. Anyway we'll see for sure on Wednesday

I'm so sure GSMArena writers are suffering from dementia when they say that the K80 Pro became the "first" to use the telephoto cam when the K20 series and K30 Ultra are the ones that use it

I expect the Redmi K80 pro to do the same when it's launched on Wednesday so you're probably talking 3,499rmb or 3,599rmb for 12gb 256gb (the K70 pro started at 3,299rmb). 3,499rmb or 3,599rmb would be very reasonable for what's on offer. If I was guessing I'd say 3,599rmb

Pretty disappointing specs, taking into account the possible massive price hike to around CNY 4,000 ($552) in China. K70 pro was 3,299 ($455).
For that price range I'd rather just get an op13 or iqoo 13.

"...including that it will be the first time we see a Redmi K phone with a telephoto shooter"
Dear editor, K20 Pro, K30 Pro Zoom and last year's K70 Pro say "Hi, we've been there before." You could've saved this by adding a statement like "after a while", of course if we had assumed this one year period could be considered "a while".

'The main camera is simply listed to have a LYT-800 sensor by Sony, and we know it is 50 MP'. You've misunderstood the Chinese here. It's the 1/1.55" OV50e (light hunter 800) which is exactly the same as main sensor the k70 and k70 pro. An omnivision sensor.
'The ultra-wide-angle camera will have a 32 MP sensor and a 120-degree field of view - another major upgrade over the mediocre UW shooters on previous Redmi K phones'. Is it though? Last year they had a 12mp shooter on the k70 pro. This year they likely effectively will have an 8mp shooter as the 32mp sensor will probably produce 8mp photos when binned. It seems like it could be a downgrade but 32mp sounds better than 12mp for marketing purposes. Tricks people into thinking it's better due to higher megapixels when the output is likely to be just 8mp.
The only upgrade is the 50mp 2.5x jn5 telephoto. Last year they only had a 2x telephoto without OIS so this is indeed and upgrade. However it's worse than Realme's periscope 3x with the far superior imx882.
