Remember when Huawei used Google services they were 3rd then knocked off Apple and went to 2nd. Back in 2015 thereabout, Huawei had assured the world they would have been #1 within 5 years. Seemed doable at the time...especially seeing how Apple knocked off Samsung for the #1 in 2023. Listen Huawei makes damn good phones which are really strong and durable. I have a Huawei P9 Plus for 7 years now and it's still working fine other than the volume keys giving me a challenge. It's still using the original battery it came with and I still use the original charger it came with. No other phone I ever owned stood the test of time like this Huawei. My last S series 7 years before I got the Huawei lasted me for 4 years, the charger lasted about a year and a half. Ever since Huawei's legal issues of not being able to use Google anymore I decided to purchase one of the Samsung S series Ultra during the summer period of this year. I will admit the Samsung is very nice and very fast...really fast but I wish it had a few handy features my P9 Plus has similarly the Samsung has some features the Huawei doesn't have as well so it's 6 of 1 half dozen of the other. Either way it is what it is. Let's see if I will be saying memorable things about this S Series Ultra 7 years from now.

Samsung would have been wiped out from the market if usa hadn't banned Huawei

"while the fingerprint scanner has been relegated to the side of the phone."

This is particularly interesting since the Xperia 1 VI since one of the very few smartphones in 2024 let alone a flagship that still has this feature where a side-mounted fingerprint is a signature, and with Mate 70 series reverted to this solution, I'm wondering how the tech community reacts to the lost of under-display fingerprint tech that Huawei used since Mate RS Porsche Design and 20 Pro/20 RS Porsche Design.

These Chinese companies only succeeded cause their phones were worth 500€ at best. Nobody would consider buying this over a Samsung or Apple lmao

But it seems like business is still going well for Huawei if they're still releasing smartphones at these prices. Clearly, only die-hard fans and loyal customers mostly from China bring most of Huawei's sales. Globally, no chance they sell nearly as much.

The asking prices are way too high for phones with the performance of flagships from two generations ago. Their processors have been a big letdown for years now, so is the price tag. If you are not competitive, you have to make an argument for yourself in some way and Huawei simply doesn't

I know a phone isn't the best camera but there are a lot of times when I don't have my cameras on me and I have a good scene, I want to be able to rely on the RAW photos from my phone. My Z Fold 5 just doesn't cut it and my old Mate 40 Pro produces bad results as well

I love the fact that Huawei is the only one to hit the 6.9" mark in the modern market, was a bit disappointed by ZTE's reluctance to go to actual 7" sizes. Display sounds cool in theory too. The RS model is weird, why's it SO heavy lol

But still, outrageous prices, better to buy the Pura 70 Ultra, the Mate series have become a bit boring, the P series are the topdogs now for a few years.

The folding phone is the real deal though, the same cameras on a foldable? YEOWZERS. It's ironic, their normal phones are so expensive that the foldable one looks great.

If I were looking for a Huawei phone i'd go for the awesome Mate X6 or the Pura 70 Ultra, these aren't that great.

They are the 3rd high-end smartphone seller by statistics worldwide, so if we talk about china only they are either first or second, so it means they are selling very well despite what you are thinking.
