Pear, 18 hours agomicro SD cards are typically useless nowadays.
Phones ha... moreWhat a joke of a reasoning.... Don't you know drones, dedicated cameras, cam corders, cctv's, etc. alot of none phone stuff are using expandable storage? some of them even record upto 8k vids but paired with a pretty expensive fast sd card but still using sd card.
Another thing is having all files on internal storage means faster wear since you know ssd's have limited read/write & considering how notoriously bloated apps/android has becoming every year, with so much telemetry & background stuff it's doing without you knowing, i won't be suprised if in maybe 5 years or less your phone will no longer boot due to dead internal ssd.

micro SD cards are typically useless nowadays.
Phones have high internal storage.
Phones high quality video recording requires such high bandwidth, you need SSD because micro sd card read / write is so slow it can't keep up.
Phones WIFI 6E / 7 Wifi Direct is so blazing fast, its transfer beats BT, even physical sd card swap.
So Samsung is wise to lower the price and get rid of this junk asap.
And that's why midrangers still cling on to sd cards due to the above lacking specs.

Astolfo, 26 Nov 2024Only an ignorant person would say so. They are used on ... moreIn past, the biggest market for microsd cards was phones (including feature phones as well as smartphones). By removing sd card feature from phones, more than 50% of its market had vanished. It won't take time until something else will replace SD cards in these handheld devices, cameras and they will extinct.

Astolfo, 26 Nov 2024Only an ignorant person would say so. They are used on ... moreSmartphone users are kinda dum* and do not know how to buy original sd cards. Now we have an OS that doesn't know or is restricted from working wtih microsd. So, I guess google just made it impossible to use microsd cards since apps2sd will just cause them headaches.

They are used on all of those gaming handhelds, cameras, laptops, IoT devices, security cameras.
Only on smartphones they have (kind of) fallen out of use, more out of greed than due to lack of space, but you can still find them pretty easily on midrange devices.

Had micro sd cards in the past. But now bought a usb flash drive instead. Sandisk branded 1tb size. And also have type c Samsung flash drive 256gb. No any micro sd is needed as phone has 512gb. As for laptop will buy one with 2tb.
