I would gladly sacrifice a bit of speed for more battery life.

    The price of Latest "S" of snapdragon will be almost same on the price of latest premium of Mediatek but latest and high SOC of mediatek is much power than Latest "S" of Snapdragon.

      8s ≈ 7+

        Power consumption would have been great if they didn't overclock these SOC's.
        Also, 1.5-2k res, 5g even on 3nm, higher refresh rates are all battery killers.

            8s gen3 is often underestimated due to gpu inferior to 8 gen2.
            It has one thing going for it though: good thermals and little to no throttling.

            When you hit the phone with sustained load, no external cooling, most 8 gen2 throttle to ~70% and then the 8s gen3 is actually the better performer.

            I own these two: Oneplus 11 vs Poco F6 (non-pro), and use the latter for gaming for this reason.

              I'm curious about power consumption. If they're lower clocked flagships they could perform a lot better in the battery department. I mean binning isn't going to account for the whole difference. I'm guessing the S chips consume less.

                Missed opportunity to call it the "Snapdragon 8 eLite" or "Snapdragon 8 Lite" because it's essentially the "lite" version of the SD8E.

                          Anonymous, 03 Dec 20248 gen 3 are about 40% from 8 gen 2 so the 8s gen elite will... more8s gen 3 has same CPU configuration(X4, A720,A520), ISP as 8 gen 3. It just has lesser GPU cores i.e. equal to 8/8+ gen 1. which is still quite powerful. Modem is from 8 gen 2 as well.
                          8s elite might come with following configuration CPU - (X4,A725,A520). X925 won't be used since it will make 8s as powerful as 8 elite.
                          GPU - same cores as 8 gen 2 but slightly overclocked.
                          ISP and modem from 8 gen 3.

                                8 gen 3 are about 40% from 8 gen 2 so the 8s gen elite will be like 20% more than 8 gen 2. The 8s gen 3 have 8 gen 2 cpu and 8+ gen 1 gpu. So the 8s elite will be better since its performance will be between both, i expect very good sustaining performance for CPU and GPU and it will place the performance on 8 gen 3 level. So far 8 gen 3 sustained performance is on par with 8 gen 2 (after throttling). But even if its 8 gen 2.5 the additional feature like game interpolation will def place the chip above 8 gen 3 in the end.
