I see no point at all them making this, if the only difference is M5 chipset (and some more AI bullshit?) The only thing I see they could change to improve it, would be wider (but as tall in other dimension) 3:2 larger model too. That would be much more tempting to Samsung Tab Ultra fans who want larger screen for videos and gaming.
It would be 14.06" then, call it 14" iPad Pro.

I mean even th... moreI have to agree.
The base spec iPad is plenty enough as a light computing, scribing, and media consumption device. With the iPad Mini or iPad Base holding the better size too. The larger iPad Pro devices are actually a bit worse, and are very hard to justify their existence, let alone their luxurious price.
I think Apple should simplify it's business model. Technology has advanced too far, that we are getting diminishing returns on hardware. So their classic model of using yesteryear's devices as the next year's budget option won't work anymore. They need to introduce a budget chipset, and a budget model, and perhaps consider prolonging launches of new products.

They could slap the fastest processor on Earth in there, if it still runs off iPadOS it just won't matter.
I have an iPad Air with M2 chip and I never push it to its limits - processing wise it does everything already, but the battery life sucks really bad for a product in this price range.

Yet it's still going to get pegged by iPadOS. At this point, you may as well just get the much cheaper MacBook Air instead.

Suddenly they want to release iPads a lot sooner? The M4 is pretty much overkill for iOS, doubt there´ll be a significant difference in performace with the M5...on an iPad.

Does anyone want their iPads to be faster?
I mean even the 10.5" iPad Pro from 2017 is still pretty fast for the tasks like office productivity and web browsing. The M5 would be overkill.
Unless Apple pivoted the iPad into a gaming tablet, the extra horsepower of Apple Silicon seems wasted on iPadOS.
I think Apple needs to rethink the iPad as an iPad. The original premise of the iPad was perfect, a $500 tablet. It's not meant to be a $1200 Surface Pro clone.

If it fits your usage, that is a good reason to keep using it.
If you wanna upgrade its on you, get a base ipad or an air or any android tablet and you'll be set for next 5-6 years

I have the M4 11" cellular variant, at this point what can they really bring to the table? the device is super thin, it has the latest super chip, they removed a camera and it still runs a mobile phone OS.
So the M5 version is going to get a new IOS and a faster chipset? what is even the point? They need to offer a desktop mode, and I would go even further and say they need to offer a watered down version of Mac OS, enough to install and run proper programs straight from tablet and other desktop class functionality, it isn't designed to replace a laptop, but for those times when its just easier to have your tablet and pencil.
After all this time the iPad Pros offer very little over the other iPads and iPhones, they don't feel overly pro, and its about time that changed.
I think if this was made possible, not only could you charge more, but more people would be willing to buy higher end models like the the 512 and 1tb models, heck you could even limit Mac OS installs to only the models with 512gb/1tb/2tb due to storage requirements.

Probably will upgrade when the iPad Mini or Air gets an OLED. No reason to upgrade otherwise. Would prefer an OLED or even MiniLED.

Once I bought an iPad, should I upgrade it every year or two? I am using iPad mini 2 from 2014. It is still working with RAM 1 Gb for Numbers and any office apps.
